GrandMagnus
Thanks, if you could get pic or two up I would appreciate it. I only have citadel, would you say that Vallejo Game Air Gunmental is similar to Citadels Leadbelcher? I only have citadel, would you say that Vallejo Game Air Gunmental is similar to Citadels Leadbelcher? Nope, it's much darker and richer. However, if you only have access to Citadel, the Leadbelcher, with a heavy Nuln oil all over, will substitute well enough. The basecoat and first layer I applied by Airbrush, mainly for speed, but it does work well. I'll try and get a couple of pics. zxyogi
My recipe is Ironbreaker, then nuln oil all over, Ironbreaker dry brushed, then Runefang steel dry brushed, then to finish off Necron compound on all raised edges. Lucio
For polished silver, avoid Nuln Oil as your wash and instead use Drankenhof Nightshade, the blue tones help in distinguishing the metal from dark, heavy iron. CommodusXIII
The shiniest, cleanest silver I've seen is Vallejo's Liquid Metallic. It's an alcohol-based paint with actual metal in the formula, so you have to handle it a bit differently during application. I use it and several of the similar gold paints quite frequently. Brother-Chaplain Kage
Rub and Buff Silver is the brightest silver type metal I've ever seen on a figure. Having seen Forgeworld mention it in some of their HH paint scheme recipes, I thought I'd give it a try on this guy: http://i.imgur.com/GPFoWSP.png What Forgeworld actually suggested was the Pewter color because it's a darker silver but none of the 3 stores in my area that carried their products had Pewter so I got the silver. How much brighter could it be? So bright, I had to put wash after wash after wash on it to darken to down to what you see above. His sword is straight Rub and Buff Silver with only a thin blue wash on it. Here's an in-progress pic where I'm trying to tone the silver down and not having much luck, and you can see how bright the reflections are. http://i.imgur.com/LMH4jmf.png Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318837-silver-armor/#findComment-4306805 Share on other sites
