Bryan Blaire
They have no armor piercing value, yes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318840-whats-the-trick-with-armor-piercing/#findComment-4293371 Share on other sites
GruntAngel
why add armor piercing at all then? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318840-whats-the-trick-with-armor-piercing/#findComment-4293374 Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
They didn't though, that's why it has a ' - ' for the value. All Melee weapons have a Stat Line of "Range" (always ' - ' for a Melee use of a weapon), S, AP, and Type. They were just filling in all the standard stats. shabbadoo
Corvus hammers have armor piercing -- Wich means they ignore armor saves of units who already have.. no armor save?? You misunderstand. An AP rating of "--" means that ALL armor gets a save, not that NO armor gets a save. Standard weapons have an AP of "--", which means they have no exceptional capabilities. Weapons that are more powerful in some way have an actual number for AP, or a special rule. Itsacon
But remember that because they also have Rending, any To Wound roll of 6 always wounds (regardless of Toughness), and has AP2. jlmb_123
But remember that because they also have Rending, any To Wound roll of 6 always wounds (regardless of Toughness), and has AP2. Does this mean that a (theoretical) model with a 1+ armour save but no invulnerable save getting wounded by a Corvus Hammer on a 5 gets instantly killed but on a 6 gets an armour save? Does this mean that a (theoretical) model with a 1+ armour save but no invulnerable save getting wounded by a Corvus Hammer on a 5 gets instantly killed but on a 6 gets an armour save? Wrong. On a 6 he takes a wound automatically. On a 5 he would take a save. Ap - is a lack of ap. It goes ap 1, ap 2, ap 3, ap 4, ap 5, ap 6, ap -. Penitence in the Reclusiam for me! To date, there is no 1+ armor save (though it's been theorized for fixes to terminators and such). The lower the AP the better, as that number (and all above it) are ignored. For example, ap 4 ignores 4+, 5+ and 6+ armor saves. As stated - means nothing is ignored. It looks like you have instant death confused too. Instant Death is a special rule applied to some weapons. Any weapon with a strength that is 2x (or more) the target's toughness gains instant death. Instant death does not ignore armor saves or invulnerable saves. Weapons that ignore armor do not cause instant death. Rending simply wounds anything on a 6, regardless of toughness, then becomes ap 2 if a 6 is rolled. Any non-6 just uses the weapons normal profile.
