Hello fellow B&C members i havent posted here in many months since i was off the marines grid and grinding out the field with orks. But since about a month ago ive had many an urge to get back to some astartes and for the longest time i have been indecisive about an army but ive found the legion im going for after finding a thread about their tactics online and for their 40k varient the kauyon book released and my god the possibilities flowed through my mind. I present to you my WIP Raven Guard army. Now mind you i dont enjoy painting its an aspect i hate alot but recently ive just had a i gotta get a marines army painted and rocking my flgs. So as its my first WIP board be nice and enjoy my sub par painting skills im going with an off scheme to be different and ive been learning alot about painting since i started these guys and i apologize for the various 40k armour varients i have mixed in my army but i dont have a job and cant afford my 3 other boxes of BAC atm. So enjoy and comments are welcome
so these are what i have been working on youl'll notice there are no bases that's because i'm waiting for my 84 bases to arrive from Dragon Forge to start basing them.  as you can see i'm kinda sticking to the theme i have and i've gone 100%full board crazy for the raven guard,  after ordering 100 dice with a chapter symbol on them i'd say i'm kinda a fan.  i'm assuming you fine people dont want to see shot by shot work of what i have done like edge highlighting on my contemptor dreadnaught so i hope over view pics will work.  i'm still mastering the dry brush effect and edge highlight in the drop pod image i tried a dry brush of gunmetal and then a really quick dry brush of black to try and give the doors that beaten metal look not sure how else to achieve it without a massive headache.  so again keep comments nice and constructive and i did thin my paints each shoulder pad and bolt gun in the grey takes 2-3 coats to get a solid color.

the imperial knight was the first real model i paid attention to thinning down paints and trying to avoid the stupid brush marks.  it took me a week to build him and then another 10 hours to paint him all of his armor took about 1 hour each piece to get it cleaned up and done right not sure about the wash on the rivets just kinda doesnt do much for me.  but hope you all enjoy

You've got the black nice and flat on that knight, thinning really helps! The drybrushing on the pod looks a little heavy to my eyes (could be the picture or the amount of codine I've consumed today). I can't edge highlight to save my life, so I dry brush. Main advice less is more, really get as much paint off your brush as you can. You can always go back over the area you want again.

hey guys thanks for the comments so far have a quick update but no pics atm.

bases are on their way from dragon forge should be here next week.   a fire raptor is on its way as well.  hopefully it wont be to much of a headache to build.

question regarding recon squads and the raven guard special recon squads.   since their description is power armour i was really just gonna use some MK:IV armour for them so its easy and not a headache to deal with and cost would stay much lower if i use the betrayal at calth set and the combi weapons from forgeworld than buying 2 sets of the mor' dythan (excuse my spelling).

hopefully next weekend if i find time i will have my basic tactical squads all done up on their new bases and will take pics.   feel free to leave any remarks regarding the recon squads and the special raven guard squads as well.

Hey guys a new update. My bases finally arrived and so did my fire raptor. Super excited about getting all my bases painted up and getting my models on them. Sorry theres no pics as of yet but i promise there will be many a picture soon. Hoping the fire raptor isnt a nightmare to put together
