Hergrmir
Hi all, So I'm a bit over spending hundreds on new foam cases for my stuff ( I have, and like, plenty of KR cases), and have come around to the idea of magnetising my projects from now on. Probably just a simple metal case and have plastic models magnetised along the bottom and sides if they're stong enough. So that said, what are the thicknesses I'll need to ensure a good hold for the newfangled 32mm bases (I haven't gotten mine in yet or I'd just measure, but they're in the mail at the moment). Do you find that it's best to have the magnets flush against the base rim so it contacts the metal in the case directly, or do they have enough pull to compensate for being a fraction of an mm short of the base rim? Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318987-magnet-thicknesses-for-transport/ Share on other sites
Kastor Krieg
Flush with the base, at least 2mm thick. If you're transporting them in something like a metal toolbox, one or two 3x2mm round neodymium magnets will suffice, same for Termies. Larger things need more.
