Mid-Heresy World Eaters Assault Legionary

Evening, ladies and gentlemen. This week has been kind of bleh being sick for most of it. Haven't been to work since they won't allow me to be around the students with a fever (school policy) and I've been sort of lacking in the inspiration for 40k. It's been a bit of a pain but I was thumbing over the Weekender thread and I couldn't help but marvel at just how much I enjoyed the Mid-Heresy look of the World Eaters. A sample of the color scheme can be found here.

Then I found this art piece that, while I found the random difference in color scheme and armor between some of the marines to be really odd, I was inspired. Link to it because the art itself is too big for the website.

Now, I don't think this will lead to an army or anything like that (still have my Word Bearers to do first) but I thought I'd make at least one 'test' model of a World Eater with the Mid-Heresy test scheme. I might prime him a bit later today or just wait until tomorrow. i'll paint him up within a couple of days and probably provide some fluff and information on him.

So, without further ado, here is 'Red Hand' Assault Legionary Yhorn Kharad, World Eaters Legion, 9th Company.

Enjoy.

Aha, that's the issue. Well, rather than denote it as what I assumed to be an overlapping piece of armour for the top of the tabard, I  decided I would instead paint it the same color as the leather, sort of to explain why its hanging a bit looser especially since he is bent slightly forward. On Yhorn's right side, you can see it goes underneath the belt of his armor.

Man, he's absolutely brutal. The waist looks a bit odd (to my eyes, at least) but overall he's awesome.

What about the waist looks off, if I may ask?

The balteus' belt looks off, just kinda… hanging there, attached to nothing.

Hmm... seems to be rather unanimous that the belt looks off... Alright, let me see what I can do to fix that...

Even just chopping the belt part off can help the roman tabbard look better. Not to clutter your thread, but something like this worked for me:

Hope this helps as the mini is excellent otherwise!

Oh yeah, that guy looks brutal like a WE should.

I personally liked the belt, but the tabard without it will look awesome once its cleaned up more.

Honestly, I think I preferred him with the belt too, but if it was noticeable issue with quite a few people right off the bat and at such a central location, I thought it would be more appropriate to simply bite the bullet and keep the flow of the model itself in higher priority than personal preference.

Small update, I primed Yhorm earlier today after a bit of a clean up and I will start painting him shortly. Stay tuned.
