Khornestar
Hey all. I'm trying to figure out what the various sources of Interceptor are in 30k non-mechanicum armies. These are the ones I know of: One of the Knight ranks has the ability One of the Auxilia relics grants interceptor Deredeo has interceptor if it doesn't move I think the Mortis Contemptor has the same rule What am I missing? Hesh Kadesh
Augury Scanners, and their bigger brothers, Cognis Signums. That's it. IMHO, Xiphon should be able to get an out of sequence turn of up to 90 degrees and Interceptor to make up for its rather horrendous points cost. Gives it a 225 degree fov effectively to help area denial. Pazuzu
Also the Whirlwind with Hyperios missiles and the Tarantula with the Hyperios... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319174-sources-of-interceptor/#findComment-4304579 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
Oh yeah, I suppose they count too XD. Good shout! Normal Mortis does also, not just the 'temptor. Khornestar
Awesome, thank you frater. The Knight Porphyrion is going to be an absolute nightmare with interceptor. Perhaps borderline ridiculous? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319174-sources-of-interceptor/#findComment-4304600 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
Knights have always been borderline ridiculous. That said, if it's as rumoured 2x S5 Blasts, which S10 or not, isn't so bad. And without a melee Strength D, it's not so bad. So, yes, Interceptor S10 is going to make a mess of things, especially now that units are forced to leave their Legion Drop Pod. Finally, you've got to account for firing arc, which is a 90 degree arc of fire - or rather a 45 degree off centre either side. It's relatively "easy" to avoid", and it's direct fire only. Turret based Interceptor is rather good, but without the ability to pivot, it's just forcing a no man's land, and Terrain blocks Line of Sight. If playing on a billiard table, it's definitely bad. But you shouldn't really ever be doing it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319174-sources-of-interceptor/#findComment-4304636 Share on other sites
Terminus
Yes but it has two of those guns, so that's 4 blasts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319174-sources-of-interceptor/#findComment-4304699 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
A bit like the Deredeo. I'll wait until we get rules to confirm. It doesn't really make that much of a difference either. Pretty much anything is getting mulched by it 2 shots or 4. Slips
Ah! But its two guns and is a superheavy so can drop those Pieplates on targets that are pretty far apart unless its forced to fire both as a single weapon (it probably wont). And with 72", even those Firing Arcs are Pretty-Dang-Wide near the tail end of that range meaning you can flatten a lot of stuff.
