MakoBoy88
Sorry guys, quick question, What Armour Marks would have been prevalent for the Space Wolves in the Razing of Prospero sort of era? Moved onto MK4 or still chilling in MK 2/3? Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319197-armour-marks-for-the-wolves/ Share on other sites
Lunar Centurion
I'm pretty sure Bjorn had MKIV, because in Prospero Burns, it talked about him fixing his hair in the helmet, but I don't know about anyone else. Wouldn't he have to fix his hair in all the armour Mks? MakoBoy88
BJorn in Mk4 I can deal with. That's a good start I guess. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319197-armour-marks-for-the-wolves/#findComment-4305294 Share on other sites
Noserenda
As a legion outside Horus' circle of buddies they would have had less mk4 issued, i can imagine they picked up a lot of Mk3 though as it seems to suit the Legion. Calas Typhon
As with most legions, they would have a very large population under MKIII, a small to medium amount of MKII, and a portion of MKIV. As their way of warfare is quite head on and in favour of quite close combat, MKIV would be the most logical choice for the flexibility it has over MKIII and not an amazing reduction of protection. They are pretty similar to the World Eaters in that respect, however due to their distance from the Warmasters fleet, I would imagine there would not be as many sets of MKIV in the Legion compared to the World Eaters or Sons of Horus, especially at the time of Prospero. So MKIII/II would be the best choices at this time at least for your average Vlka Fenryka Legionary. m_r_parker
At the Weekender they previewed Mk III torsos and pads during the Inferno seminar, so I would say MkIII is a safe bet. Sandlemad
I would've said MkII might predominate due to some sense of conservatism and superstition about retaining older armours but Prospero Burns describes wolves in MkIV, so you should be comfortable using Betrayal at Calth to a good degree. Charlo
Good thing to remember: Horus sent the wolves to kill the 1ksons so he may have supplied them with a good amount of mk4 to ensure thier success. As far as I recall, he only sent word through astropathic rather than a literal messenger, then again, its been a while since I read Prospero Burns. lokkorex
There are quite a lot of artwork of the wolves in the collected visions book, but i'm not sure what mark they're wearing, plus it's been a while since i looked at the artwork. EDIT: they seem to be wearing all kinds of different marks of armour, but to my eye it seems like crusade and iron armour feature a bit more in the artwork, with maximus armour close behind. Grotsmasha
I mixed a SW upgrade squad with a FW mkIII squad and it turned out pretty well. I think mixed armour mk's suit the wolves more so than any of the other Legions, and mkII, III, and IV are all good choices to use for the Wolves. DuskRaider
I would think Mk. II would be preferable. While it's not as advanced as Mk. IV, it's lighter and more flexible than Mk. III, and its both available in mass qualities and easy to reproduce, be it from the standard template or any divergence. I would see Iron Armour as more of a hindrance to their mobile warfare.
