Vonplutz
Hey, just wondering what size bases do recon marines go on, 25s or 32s? Is it the same if they are un-armoured recon marines? Atia
Power armoured ones? I would go with 32mm ^^ GW plastic .... "Scouts"? If you really want to use them .... mhm ... not sure, they may fit with smaller ones, or may need bigger ones, but at the end, it's your choice. Base size doesn't matters anymore for GW ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319398-recon-marine-bases/#findComment-4310546 Share on other sites
ElectricPaladin
I mean, since GW/Forgeworld no longer includes base size in the rules, I'd say go with whatever looks best. If you're planning on fielding your marines alongside auxillia/mechanicum or other forces with mortals, I'd say definitely go 32mm for your recon armored marines, so you can maintain the contrast between big Astartes and weedy mortals. If you are only planning to field Astartes, you might want to put them on 25mm bases for the same reason - to create some contrast. Halandaar
Going to assume you mean Marines in Recon Armour specifically (i.e. scout sized models) rather than the base Reconnaissance Squad in Power Armour. Personally, I'm leaning toward putting those type of models on 32mm; they are after all still supposed to be bigger/stronger etc than a standard human even outside their Power Armour. That aside, you might want them on the smaller bases to make the difference a bit more visible in your army. Hesh Kadesh
GW make the distinction that you use the bases that the models are supplied with. Kurama recently got a box, IIRC. It is worth checking with him. There are no models yet for Recon Armour Recon Marines in setting. Ganders
In the rules I don't think GW does make that distinction anymore. And there are powered armour legion recon marines from forge world. Vonplutz
Thanks for the replies. I meant guys in recon armour as opposed to power armour. Still on the fence whether I'll try and 30kify a box of 40k scouts. Atia
GW won't make a distinction anymore ;) You can and will be able to base your models on any base you want, be it 25, 32, or hexagon bases ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319398-recon-marine-bases/#findComment-4310659 Share on other sites
Millicant
I'm doing 32. I think it just looks better. Best bet would be to try them both out sans glue and see what you think. I'm sure you've got one of each lying around somewhere. If not, somebody nearby you must. The MkIV Recon Marines come with 25mm bases still but I recommend 32mm simply as the model won't overhang compared to a 25 mm base; with the kneeling marines their profile will take up most of the 25mm base so really it depends on your preferences.
