This week we get the Dimitar (that was up for pre-release at the Weekender), on it's own and as part of a three item bundle (no discount though :( )

Domitar - £48

The Domitar Class Battle-automata was a sophisticated variant of the ancient Conqueror pattern. Larger than the more common Castellax alongside which it would serve, the Domitar was also swifter, designed to cross the open battlefield at speed, and built expressly to crash into the enemy with shattering force.

To this end the Domitar’s shock-protected and armoured frame was itself a weapon, while its blows were amplified to colossal proportions by the Battle-automata’s inbuilt gravitational hammers, allowing it to pulverise battle tanks and, as it would later prove, even Legiones Astartes Dreadnoughts in combat. As a line-breaker, the Domitar was unparalleled in the Mechanicum’s arsenal, and its tactical flexibility was further augmented with a missile launcher armed with a variety of munitions.

The Domitar Class Battle-automata is equipped with a pair of graviton hammers and a missile launcher. Optional parts are included to mode the missile launcher’s housing open or closed. Rules for using Domitar Class Battle-automata Maniples in Horus Heresy games can be found in The Horus Heresy - Mechanicum: Taghmata Army List.

This is a multi-part resin kit. A 60mm round base is included.

It's a nice little kit (shame they don't share the components) - here's one I purchased at the Weekender

It's a lovely model, although this is not why envision graviton hammers to look like.

Between Thanatar, Vorax and Castellax I just can't get excited about this guy for his point cost.

30 pts cheaper you'd actually have to consider, as it stands 3 Vorax cost 20 points more, have double the wounds,  and in a pinch make 3 S10 AP2 smash attacks. oh yeah they have roughly 5X the shooting power.

If I'm using Vorax as a measuring stick whether a model is competative that's not a very good sign :)

Please let this mean that Forge World are aware of how horrendously slow this thing is and means that there is a potential change coming that would grant them more than 6" movement a turn w/o having to run...

Lmao it was that whole thing all over with the headhunters and not wanting to admit their mistakes :P

How much movement does the Castellax have again?

Same as a Domitar. 6"

So since the Domitar was being compated as swift to the Castellax(Larger than the more common Castellax alongside which it would serve, the Domitar was also swifter...), it doesn't necessarily have to be the fastest thing in the army then, correct? Does it have some charge rule the Castellax doesn't?

Sure does. It gets a hammer of wrath charge bonus and Crusader! Neither of which actually affects its real mobility :D

Definitely one of the largest awesome model to rules ratios. Obviously we just need to buy a bunch and then slowly guilt FW into a buff over time, pestering them with e-mails and at every event. It worked with the book 1 Legions, even if it took a few years :P
