1ncarnadine
Maybe the Domitar will get a buff in the rerelease of the red books soon? They're only re-releasing the Legion red books. The Mechanicum red book was too recent a release, and to be fair the Domitar is maybe the only weak entry in the entire book except for the Thanatar variants. Kol Saresk
So since the Domitar was being compated as swift to the Castellax(Larger than the more common Castellax alongside which it would serve, the Domitar was also swifter...), it doesn't necessarily have to be the fastest thing in the army then, correct? Does it have some charge rule the Castellax doesn't? Sure does. It gets a hammer of wrath charge bonus and Crusader! Neither of which actually affects its real mobility :D Definitely one of the largest awesome model to rules ratios. Obviously we just need to buy a bunch and then slowly guilt FW into a buff over time, pestering them with e-mails and at every event. It worked with the book 1 Legions, even if it took a few years :P Mobility is relative on the tabletop however. 12" for a jetbike is "just as fast" as 12" for a Terminator. As I understand the rules' functions, "mobility" isn't determined by travel distance, but rather by charges and Initiative. Initiative being "action-reaction speed" in close combat and charges representing how fast a unit enters into combat. So chances are that we will not be seeing buffs(at least not for the next year or so, IMO) simply because they have done exactly what they said. It is faster compared to the Castellax, despite its large size. It was designed to use this speed to charge into battle whenever it spots the enemy. And it does these things. Basically, like the Dreadnought, the Domitar doesn't run all over the place. It stomps, thumps and treads its way around the battlefield, only charging when it sees an enemy. But that's just my opinion on the matter. SkimaskMohawk
But does any of that make it able to cross the open field at speed like the quote says? Its true you can run and get a bonus from crusader if you're in range, but if it was designed to be swifter and able to cross battles at speed in comparison to the castellax, then why does it only work if they're being micro managed by a priest whos lurking nearby. Seems like a design flaw of making them be swifter and speedier Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319441-forgeworld-new-releases-19216-domitar/page/2/#findComment-4312156 Share on other sites
Terminus
Should make for great conversion fodder. I am holding off until I see the Atarax (or whatever, can never remember the name), to see if I can rope this guy into being a Homonculex or if he will be too big. Kol Saresk
Well, it charges. In any definition that I am aware, that would normally be considered "at speed", with speed being relative to whatever was charging. As for the priest micro manage, autopilot function? Do the rules say it has to be micromanaged? Brofist
Lovely model. Shame about the rules. I wonder what I could proxy it for? Kronos
I really like the domitar design, I prefer the iron circle variant from what I've seen of the HH pics and was tempted to pick one up just to paint, but at nearly £50 a pop, no way. Great model, just have more pressing things to buy. Legionary Pallas
I love the colour scheme FW did for it, grey with some nice white stripes. Stripes are seriously under-utilised except on marine helms. We need more stripes.
