veterannoob
I'm listening to this again (like 7th time now) and I love it more each time. Like any of the audio books I pick up more references each time I listen again after that initial reading. My fun little discussion here is about narration and I'm wondering if anyone else has thoughts about this book. In short, it's brilliant. I've always sold it to people with the Primarch battle scene (I can't hardly see this vague mention as a spoiler but anyway...) where Keeble does a brilliant job bringing that dialogue to life. Aside from the greatest piece of audio BL has ever created, Butcher's Nails, I'm continuously pleased with the dynamic reading here. Since David Thimpson couldn't be Angron in this Audio book what did you think of Keeble? For any character really, not just the big angry red teddy bear. I've been listening to his AoS stuff recently so it was nice to come back to some Heresy. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319447-betrayer-narration/ Share on other sites
Tymell
Keeble does the narration on the Betrayer audio book? Excellent! I'm re-reading the HH novels currently, and trying to do the audio books this time around for a bit of difference; I'm not a fan of Armstrong's narration, but I love Keeble's (currently very much enjoying his reading of Scars). Betrayer is one of the ones on the BL website where it never actually says who does it, so I wasn't sure whether to get the audio or just stick to the print book. Thanks for helping me decide! veterannoob
He does good work. I probably seem more down on Gareth than I mean to, but those earlier narrations soured me. Im bummed he's doing all 12 TBA I assume, but can't comfirm as he only done the three out so far. If you listen to Eye of Horus podcast one of the guys was put off by First Heretic narration. Book amazing, but he said Lorgar was Voiced to sound like *insert some Australian English word which I think means priss*;) however in Betrayer every Primarch (won't say which or how many) and main character is much more well represented imo. Do enjoy Betrayer, it's still one of the best, tied in first place with Thousand Sons and Legion on my chart. And if you haven't heard Butcher's Nails you must pick up a copy. Just don't play it as you drive down a major highway to the rhythm of chain axes to find you're going 95mph ;) I had, uh, a friend who did that...yeah, a friend. Guiltysparc
I liked his voice acting for Angron, particularly the scene where he...talks...to the desh'ea lords. Prot
I have only read this book, but intend on getting the Audio. As a fan of Khorne, and Khârn (but not particularly Angron) and a big fan of Ultramarines, I'm anticipating a very good 'new' perspective to the whole story. I do recall reading the battle of the Primarchs, and being somewhat 'proud' to read Guilliman hold his own. It should be epic.... except for Argal Tal (I hate the way this book ends but I won't spoil it.) veterannoob
I won't ruin it for you, but hearing Keeble voice those bigger characters was just awesome. Funny but fun.
