A bolt round smacked into his left pauldron as he swept his blade through another Fist, knocking him off balance for a moment as he tried to disengage the blade from the torso of the warrior. His response was a grunt, and he raised his plasma pistol towards the offender. A second sun engulfed the Imperial Fist, and he died choking on his own flesh.

Solon Laelius Shahzad charged forward, knocking over another Fist, chainsword grinding uselessly on Shahzad's warped warplate. He saw Ludvig and Caelius reaping their own bounty of flesh further down the hallway, the Palatines hewing at the Loyalists with their longswords. Pontius Ithamar, Prefector of Shahzad's Palatine squad was fighting next to Shahzad, as loyal as ever, spear gripped in both hands, impaling Imperial warriors left and right.

"Captain, the Fists are falling back. They're taking up defensive positions further south, reinforced by some Blood Angels," Sergeant Idan Zdravko, commander of Lustwing Terminator Squad, said over the vox-net.

"Good, let the fools cower. They're just making it easier to kill them all! Sergeant Pythios, bring up the Debaucherers," Shahzad voxed.

"Aye, sir. Debaucherers incoming," Sergeant Gabriel Pythios, commander of the Debaucherer Destroyer Squad, "We'll eradicate them with phosphex."

Steinn saw them first. From his vantage point atop the tower, he yelled over the vox-net. "Third Legion warriors inbound from the South! Several squads, and armour!" Already lifting his heavy bolter, the Imperial Fist sighted in, taking careful aim. There were only a few hundred more rounds for the heavy weapon left at the outpost. They'd need a resupply shortly.

As the warriors of the Third drew closer, Steinn was able to make out the individuals making up the warband. The bulk were hideously disfigured, showing just how far these once-proud Astartes had fallen. Engulfed in rage, Steinn opened fire.

His first volley clipped an Astartes carrying a large banner with a rune that made Steinn begin to feel ill just looking at it. The monster reeled, but kept running forwards.

The rest of the Fists had gathered to repel the assault now. Bolters opened up along the rampart, blasting the oncoming Astartes. Massed firepower met massed manpower, and neither side would win by numbers or fire alone.

At the forefront of the assault, Sergeant Vidal Einar waved his squad onwards, sword held in outstretched mutated arm.

"Death to the False Emperor!" he screamed at the top of his super-human lungs.

I'm glad you asked Reyner, I needed an excuse to brag. tongue.png

Stage One: Prime Corax White (I'm sure you can use any white primer, I just happen to like Corax White, despite the price.)

Stage Two: Thinned down wash of Tamiya Clear Red (I've been wanting to use this stuff ever since I saw FW's metallic Word Bearers, and I have used the snot out of it. One of my favorite products.)

Stage Three: Wash Carroburg Crimson (Adds depth and takes away the shine of the Clear Red)

That's it. Really stupidly easy. Of course, highlighting still needs to be done, but that's the easiest red I've ever acheived that still looks great.

I should have him done by tonight.

I've used it on my Word Bearers, but not the same steps.

I washed Carroburg Crimson over an Army Painter Plate Mail primer coat, then did the Clear Red, followed by another wash of Carroburg.

The results are spectacular if done right.

I haven't tried the Clear Red over the metal yet...Might have to give that a shot.

As I'm waiting for a couple of washes to dry on the Captain, I'd like to introduce you to the first Legionary he gets to command:

Sergeant Raphael Almaric:

He needs some gap filling, Legion shoulder pad, and jump pack.

These are the jump packs I'm going to be ordering. http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Exo-Lords/Torsos-and-Power-Plants/Jetpack

Those look appropriately durable enough to lift Mk3 warplate into the air. And there will be lots of Mk3. Lots.
