wulfgar hammerfist
I do not like the "Hero of the Empire" head on the current Ulrik so I decided to try and convert him with his helmet on. I have trimmed a bit more off the right side near the pipes since I took the pic and angled the head to the right slightly to cover up some of the unavoidable damage to the piping on the helmet. If you're good with green stuff you could fix it pretty easy. I am not. I'll save the back pack for when he's being painted because there is some detail on the back that I don't want to mess up. It is a fairly easy job but you have to take your time a use a really sharp knife to trim the fingers. The hand swap is easy too. I just took one of our ornate looking plasma pistol arms and angled the cut around the elbow and trimmed off the excess elbow pad to fit. http://i602.photobucket.com/albums/tt103/crouching_lictor/20160221_180024_resized.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/ Share on other sites
SW1
That's looking really good. I have to say converting up plastics is so much easier that the old metal models. The helmet looks much better on his head. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/#findComment-4314523 Share on other sites
Wispy
Good cutting! I think I will keep my helmet off, as the pose with it on wasn't what I was expecting. Glad to see someone else take a crack at it before I went off and turned it into something I wouldn't be happy with. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
Now that looks like a proper Ulrik! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/#findComment-4314537 Share on other sites
Fray
Looks good! Now I'm even more impatient for my order to arrive in the mail. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/#findComment-4314558 Share on other sites
Valerian
Can you take a picture with the backpack on (using blu-tac, or something similar to hold it in place temporarily)? I'm really curious on how that might change the look. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/#findComment-4314605 Share on other sites
lovesmuffins
Good cutting! I think I will keep my helmet off, as the pose with it on wasn't what I was expecting. Glad to see someone else take a crack at it before I went off and turned it into something I wouldn't be happy with. I already built mine but wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I liked the pose. Problem is I don't like it with the helm. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/#findComment-4314655 Share on other sites
Wulvenblut
Nice work, it looks better and a little less static than the initial version. When I get Ulrik I plan to use the old helmet. I second the need of a picture with the backpack. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319558-ulrik-with-helmet/#findComment-4314832 Share on other sites

Lord Ragnarok
Agreed. And it looks like you turned the head a little as well which I was thinking should help the pose. Great job. I'm sold. wulfgar hammerfist
Thanks! I turned the head slightly yo the right for two reasons, one being it gives a little movement to the model as it looks like he's surveying the battlefield to see where he's needed most and two to cover up the bit of piping that I damaged during the cut. It's minor but if you know it's there your eye just goes right to it. Verux
I prefer the standard pose but very nice work. I know many people were waiting on someone to add this before jumping on the conversion. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I really like what you've done, brother!! The tilted head makes him look less static for sure. But... I am one of the (possibly few) people who think Ulrik looks great stock. I just wanted to extend my admiration of your total success in the conversion!! Graymane
A very nice conversion. Might shamelessly snaffle that idea if you don't mind! :) May have to do something interesting with the crozius too... Kasper_Hawser
Awesome! I just might get the new Ulrik if I can pull off what you did Wulfgar. Its not that I mind his old man look, I just don't like the static pose.
