Ion Raptor
I'll be filling up this log here and there with my Thousand Sons as I finish each squad. I just started playing at the local shop and have made it my goal to finish one squad a week. Right now I'm using them as cult Thousand Sons troops but by game three I've discovered that the Thousand Sons rules are terrible and cover completely negates my special ammo 100% of the time. Once I have enough painted I'll be switching to using the regular Chaos Marine rules for them. When I get tired of painting blue, I'll switch to painting my BaC set as preheresy Sons, hopefully with some upgrades to make them more Thousand Sons-like instead of generic. Nothing special with these first five, just some marines and a sorcerer. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1299_zps66hqgqh9.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1303_zpsqmqlg4vg.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1306_zpsdvfcnfqn.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1308_zpsdubmfvqo.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1311_zpsr89rpmso.jpg Next is my Havoc squad http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1331_zpsupoxgcdx.jpg Finally I decided to cut my BaC Contemptor apart because the pose sucks, while I was at it I decided to try my hand at LED lighting. I wanted to light the eyes up and had two choices; try to drill the eyes out or make a resin copy of a helmet and paint everything but the eyes. I figured the resin copy would be easier, though until I get it painted the head will look a bit radioactive. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1334_zps6lxmwf1c.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/12741971_10153777710685546_8765524211866150841_n_zps7kfcge5a.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/12745785_10153777710665546_3196426172516255398_n_zpsiu06z1op.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319591-prepost-heresy-thousand-sons/ Share on other sites

Ion Raptor
I have absolutely no idea where it came from, but I have two more of them and they're metal. Might be tomb king stuff. Don't think they're from the Tomb Kings, actually, don't think they're GW at all, the blade looks more like the style of either Privateer Press or maybe even Rackham-stuff. Ion Raptor
Not at all, I'm going to do some digging and see if I can find the answer to this little mystery Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319591-prepost-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-4315762 Share on other sites
Ion Raptor
Little something different. I've had an idea for some terrain for a while but never carried it out. Now that I'm actually painting my Chaos forces they'll need a portal to travel through. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/IMAG0617_zps1borygi7.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319591-prepost-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-4322264 Share on other sites

feuer_faust
Played any Warhammer: Age of Reckoning back when? That portal looks familiar. :) Did you just carve it out of a hunk of foam? As for the blades, I'd bet they are felblades from Privateer Press' Doomreaver units. I like the work, very clean and orderly (which fits the Thousand Sons in my opinion). Indeed, I based it off of the concept art, and yes its all just blue insulation foam with seams covered in spackle. It also appears that you've solved the mystery of the blades! Ion Raptor
Some Daemon allies are on the way. I bought a Burning Chariot and was able to make the Blue Scribes out of all the spare parts, and one happy meal toy. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e108/IonRaptor/Warhammer/DSCN1395_zpsu5pvnyuh.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319591-prepost-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-4341254 Share on other sites
Ion Raptor
Been busy with other projects but finished the Blue Scribes. feuer_faust
It lives! Loving that red, very solid. And the led, of course, is very arcane-looking. Only thing off to me is the blue book might be a little too dark in the middle? Unless that's just how it looks next to the straps. Noctem Cultor
Awesome choice doing a half blue to red paint scheme on the Hellblade adds a bit of depth to a flat miniature. All looks great so far. -Noctem Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319591-prepost-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-4638541 Share on other sites
