Emperor's Furor
Entered a painting competition today but lost because I didn't have time to finish my power sword. I'm painting Sons of Horus and want my power weapons to be red/orange. Atm I've done one layer of khorne red, then a little bit up done a layer of mephiston red, in the end I want it to have a orange looking hue, any one have any tips? I'm doing it with a brush rather than air brush. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319776-any-tips-on-red-power-swords/ Share on other sites
Khornestar
This is the best I can offer, though it's not exactly what you're looking for. Maybe it can give you some ideas. I too am curious about painting red power weapons. MrBear
Would something along these lines be what you're after? http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m101/The-Bear-in-the-North/red%20sword_zpstm6gryt9.png I didn't take any proper notes as I was painting it but it was done roughly like this: 1. Chaos Black undercoat 2. Two or three thin coats of Khorne Red 3. A couple of thin coats of Blood Red, making sure that the final part of this stage was just a little, little bit thinner in the centre part of the sword 4. A few thin coats of Evil Sunz Svarlet, leaving the previous colour in the centre 5. A thin wash (about 50/50) of water and Baal Red in the darker, centre part 6. An edge highlight of thinned Blazing orange over the edges of the sword, covering some but not all of the Evil Sunz Scarlet.
