ElectricPaladin
The good news: I just got a pair of drop pods for my 30k Salamanders. The great news: they were painted by a 12 year old without primer, so they'll strip almost effortlessly. The best news: one of them was free because the guy I bought it off of had decided to throw it out instead of putting it up for sale, and it was filthy and broken! The bad news: it's broken. Specifically, one of the doors is loose because of the two little dohickeys that allow it to hinge, one of them has broken off. Has anyone got any advice for the best way to fix it? Right now it's in the drink, so I'll let you know how disassembled it gets - and post pics - once it's done stripping. Like I said, it's paint on bare plastic, so I don't think it'll take long! AndrewChristlieb
Probably best to just pin the hinge. I'm not sure without seeing a pic, but you should be able to drill into the door and drop a pin into it (all the way so it can clear the frame of the pod) then put a drop of glue into the frame and tip the pod so the pin falls into the slot on the frame. After that it's all up to the glue not getting on the door too, Zipkicker (or similar) might help since it will speed up the process. I actually just bought some zip-kicker, so yeah... that would do the trick. If I'm lucky, it will fall apart in such a way that I can put the pin into the door, then reassemble the base around it... but I can't count on that. Carlson793
Magnetize the hinge. Magnet in the body of the DP, with an aligned magnet(s) in place of the door peg. Yup, I always forget where I put my magnets... :D This would probably be easier then trying to get a pin in unless you can get the frame to come apart easily.
