Arkangilos
Fluff wise, who has white shoulder pads for Emperor's Children? Is it a rank thing? Veteran thing? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319890-emperors-children-color-quesion/ Share on other sites
Atia
Veteran thing, pre-Fulgrim if I remember it correctly :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319890-emperors-children-color-quesion/#findComment-4323542 Share on other sites
Arkangilos
So a veteran tactical squad would have white shoulders? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/319890-emperors-children-color-quesion/#findComment-4323572 Share on other sites
Calas Typhon
So a veteran tactical squad would have white shoulders? White was used for any Legionary to denote rank and heraldry. Vets would be included in this I believe. Caustic63
I've generally reserved white shoulder pads for Veterans and Kakophoni, but that's my preference. Vodunius
There is only one marine with white shoulder pads in Betrayal and that's an Apothecary, there is a Decurio whose description includes: Note: Equipped with older 'Crusade' pattern armour, white enamel inlay used to denote rank and heraldry was an older Legion tradition dating back to before its unification with the Primarch Fulgrim. However he doesn't have white pads, the enamel inlay is on his helmet, jump pack and torso, whilst the Decanus next to him and the Centurion a few pages later both lack any white whatsoever, which I've always taken to suggest that it's an *abandoned* older tradition. Massacre does have a Terminator with white shoulderpads, but he's described as being a Veteran-Tesserarius, so whether his white pads are because he's a Veteran or because he's a Tesserarius is anyones guess. Theredknight
Paint how you like mate. I think the white really breaks up the purple nicely. I think fluff wise it was pre primarch as someone says to denote seniority etc. I have used white pads on all mine as I styled them on eidolons command company. The veterans I have actually have black pads. I have used red cloaks for fulgrim, eidy and champ. I also use a muted red for command guys like sarges just because it's easier to see him on the table amongst 19 other bodies. Arkangilos
So it wouldn't really be an issue if I just did my sergeant of the veteran tactical squad with white shoulders?
