Autek Mor's Secret Treasure (Massive Spoilers)

Recommended Posts

I still need to know what a Volkite Imploder was from the Imperial Fists Section in Extermination about the battle of Phall...

But yeah, about Autek Mors Treasure and all that? We're in 30k, remember, 40k is still ten thousand years away.

Some of my friends think it could be the corpse of a lost Primarch.

Well, it has always been rumoured that Mor's geneseed was not what it should have been...

Plus that would be entirely poetic if the army I chose to be different from my Lost Legions project ended up being another Lost Legions project.

It has the symbol of the Emperors gene-wrights upon it,

So whatever it is, it is biological. Especially if it had to be kept in a stasis casket. Not mechanical.

It would have been placed there pre-heresy, or transported for safety at the out-break of the heresy, I doubt it would be the corrupted geneseed taken from Deliverance by the Alpha Legion.

My guess is genetic code for the geneseed, which Autek Mor uses to create more Astartes, Either that or it is Thunder Warrior genetics and he creates super powerful but short-lived warriors to take the fight to the traitors.

It was taking huge amounts of time and resources for Corax & co  to decrypt the Primarch geneitics and he was getting help from the big E. Something I doubt Autek has.

Bile on the other hand undoubtedly would have been given everything he would ever need by Horus to explore the Primarch code.

Bastard's gotta be some kind of Thunder Warrior hybrid. He's massive, and stronger/tougher than other marines by a good margin, maybe part of his nutty bionics is to stop the Thunder Warrior degeneration.

Storm Walkers, Thunder Warriors… now if he had a weapon called "Lightning something"…

Well, it's clearly not a Primarch corpse as he managed to hold the stasis cask in his servo arm - but genetic material is far more likely.

I'm kinda doubtful it's what the WE were using to increase their numbers, as surely they wouldn't keep it in an ancient vault which holds censured technology from the entirety of the Great Crusade - for it to be useful, they'd need to actually access it.

Whatever it is, it ties in well with the haziness surrounding Mor's genetic heritage - you could even see it as him claiming the geneseed of his 'original' Legion - I mean, I have no interest in the Lost Legions (they're best as a mystery), but using their genetics after their extinction to hybridise with Xth Legion geneseed - that's cool.

Tl;dr - it's whatever you want it to be

That was what i always thought.

It's Schrödinger's Cat!

I meant that as a bad joke, but it's a rather fitting analogy.

Now this is a cool idea, I never thought of it that way. It's always been said that there are 'dark rumours' about Mor and that his genes aren't what they seem. If he's actually a Thunder Warrior, that would explain a lot.. The aggression, belligerence and physical strength definitely match that of a Thunder Warrior.

I always just thought he was an Iron Warrior...

And given the mysterious nature Bligh put around his casket, it IS likely to be something spooky and cool. At the very least it's a huge source of genetic material.

Or perhaps it's nothing we know of. It should be remembered that while the Tonitrua Milites, Primarchs, Legiones Astartes and Legion Custodes were the Emperor's greatest works of gene-engineering, there is at least one other project of which we only know the name: Labryk Polaris. It's mentioned in passing in the Alpha Legion section of book III, with no further explanation on its nature, and I don't believe we will ever know more about it.

I'm sorely disappointed that, because of the name of the thread, no pirate jokes have been sprung. :(

That said, was it specifically a casket he came up with, or a container?

Casket suggest a corpse or similar inside, container could involve anything really.

Maybe the Emperor's scientists figured out how to remove and remake the Butchers Nails.  Angron refused to take an help from dad and rather just destroy himself and his legion from the madness of the nails.  Mor is going to adopt the science of the butchers nails into his Shattered Legion to bring the most destruction as possible to the traitors.

Retribution explicitly said 'Casket' in the fluff.

This question shall never be answered. It's just a story hook

This is why I love Alan Bligh writing this series, he drops these little gems in there with absolutely no explanation and allows everyone to speculate what it could mean. Plus he has this annoying habit of vaguely answering questions with a glint in his eye, making you think you've hit upon the right answer but leaving you doubting that maybe he does that regardless of what gets put in front of him...

It's only good when there's some intelligent partial reveal...just throwing something incredibly vague out there does not good writing make

And yet, here we are, using this one, tiny, almost insignificant blurb of fluff to fuel our creative juices. Just as intended.

Most of these hooks aren't meant to ever be revealed. They're to let us speculate and get creative, and use these ideas in our armies.

Want II or XI legion marines in your Autek Mor army? Go right ahead. Same with mass produced iron hands, or World Eater hybrids. Tidbits like this give players a justification for whichever they prefer.

Casket doesn't necessarily mean a coffin, the words aren't always interchangeable. By strictest definition "casket" is a container larger than a box but smaller than a chest.
