Charlo
Anyone got a break down of the bits? Charlo
Wondeful. Thank you all! In terms of the space where the head goes, is it pretty universal? Would it be simple to head swap it? Also would you say it's Tartaros that he's wearing? It's sort of Indomitas but.... Not? It's certainly not Cataphracti Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320111-iron-father-model/#findComment-4328864 Share on other sites
Slips
Its definitely Cataphractii. Just look at the shoulders and the back of his legs. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320111-iron-father-model/#findComment-4328867 Share on other sites
Charlo
Ah, dang. Is it much of a problem as using him as Tartaros? If I used different shoulders and such to alleviate it? Slips
There shouldnt be much issue so long as you make it pretty clear (marker on the base or somewhere) that hes not in cataphractii. Dantay VI
Looks similar to Gorgon armour with cataphractii shoulder pads. I do not see why you couldn't use tartaros arms though the rounded pads will make it look more Gorgon like I reckon For the head, you would have to carve it out. I have seen someone on here do that and use one of the cataphractii terminator half heads (respirator head) in is place. File the hand off the front plate and decorate for the legion of your choice Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320111-iron-father-model/#findComment-4328880 Share on other sites
Charlo
Yeah would be for my Death guard. He'll be rolling with Deathshroud and he'll only be getting a 4+ save with cyber familiar so it should be pretty obvious. Gotta get that sweep off yo! (even with - 1 to the roll....) Slips
I wonder if FW still sell the Death Guard Cataphractii shoulders... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320111-iron-father-model/#findComment-4328899 Share on other sites
Fire Golem
I wonder if FW still sell the Death Guard Cataphractii shoulders... They do, and they're doing more for the other legions too. Luna707
Just swap the arms for tartaros and I'm sure it will pass off as not cataphractii. I've done a head replacement on the model and it does take some work if you want to preserve the cool tubes behind the head. Also you won't have very much room for the back of the head you are swapping in (because of the tubes again) and will likely have to shave off the back of the new head and blend it in with green stuff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320111-iron-father-model/#findComment-4328973 Share on other sites
A D-B
Not to state the obvious, but I categorically want to see that guy painted up in Death Guard colours. Oh my, yes. The Tartaros arms conversion sounds simple and rad, too. Though I'd be far too scared to drill out the head. The fear of just screwing up such expensive and nice models!? Nightmarish! Ironwrought Huw
Having something of a obsession familiarity with this model, I can say that you can perform a head transplant - but you'll struggle to fit anything bigger than a cataphractii head in there. I've found that the easiest way to remove the head is to attack it from the top, with a scalpel blade. Once you've gotten the blade all the way in and down to the gorget, it's a 'simple' case of very slowly levering the head away from the body until it snaps off at the chin. Then use the knife to gently carve out the space behind. This method has the advantage that the original face is left largely intact, allowing you to reuse it (should you ever find the need for only the front half of a head). Ironwrought Huw
It's one of my favourite FW sculpts - there are so many ways you can use it. (And I have ) From simple arm/weapon swaps (such as lightning claws), to full on ripping it apart and making something completely new. It's incredibly easy to re-purpose him for other legions. The only problem is the head. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320111-iron-father-model/#findComment-4329227 Share on other sites
