Enigami
Hey all, I'm trying to figure out if a couple of deathstorms is something I'd want to include in SoH OA list. I keep thinking of running them with krak launchers as sort of a turn 2-3 clean up after my first wave comes in and wrecks shop, but I keep thinking they may be too fragile to hang around until the turn after they drop. Has anyone had any experience with these? If anyone has, please let me know what you think and if they'd be effective. Noserenda
Deathstorms are usually best dropped directly on top of the enemy in the first wave, holding them back only increases the likleyhood of the enemy spreading out or your own troops getting too close and getting caught in the blasts, which potentially really hurts!I wouldnt worry about them surviving, they are at least as useful as a distraction/disruption as they are for raw killing :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320130-the-deathstorm-drop-pod/#findComment-4329367 Share on other sites
Terminus
Honestly, I just use them as a cheapish way to add an extra drop pod to the list for Drop Pod Assault ratios. Krak or frag, it will be super annoying launching stuff in every direction, but your opponent should have other fish to fry. If they die, oh well, they weren't shooting something more important than an immobile non-scoring vehicle. Caillum
I like the frag - cheaper and has Pinning. Especially good if you bomb it in the middle of lots of units. But you really want your units to be 12" away from it! You can hope that they arrive on 2nd turn, or later turns if you are unlucky. Honestly, I just use them as a cheapish way to add an extra drop pod to the list for Drop Pod Assault ratios. If they die, oh well, they weren't shooting something more important than an immobile non-scoring vehicle. Again, I don't think you can do this, since it's missing drop pod assault rule. It's just a normal deep striking unit, same way as lets say deep striking terminator unit wouldn't boost your drop pods. What you can do to boost drop pod assault for 'cheap' is take single weapon battery for 60/70 and add pod for it. Unknown Legionnaire
I don't think you can do this, since it's missing drop pod assault rule. You can purchase the Drop Pod Assault Rule for 25 pts. So yes, the tactic is quite viable. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320130-the-deathstorm-drop-pod/#findComment-4331676 Share on other sites
