I have a copy of the book from the Weekender. Nothing from Book Vi is in here; so none of the new Rites of War, nor the new special characters. The only things that are in here are any updated to Legion rules or units, adding the Iron Circle to the Iron Warriors section, and the addition of the Ultramarines to the book.

I don't get why they added the iron circle in but nothing else from book 6, that seems an odd decision.
I suppose they want to give people an incentive to buy Retribution or the rules weren't finished when they sent the red book to the printer.

But then why put the Iron Circle in there?

Maybe it was supposed to be in a previous book before that, but they hadn't had time to playtest it? It could also simply have been something they overlooked in proofreading, forgot to remove and the red books was sent off to the printer before the Retribution book.

I suppose someone could just fire off an email and ask them what's going on.

To make the inevitable Horus Heresy Legions book more attractive to those who aren't BA/DA/WS/TS/SW? :P

I am still waiting for the time when every legion gets covered and then perhaps i might just go for one of these. The numbered volume books, although go out of date rules-wise can be a great piece for collection cause they contain tons of great artwork, and although I am 31 years old at the time of this comment, I still love pictures in my books! smile.png with the red ones, once they get updated the previous ones literally lose their value, hence why im holding myself back on them until they cover everything. Just happy to see them constantly putting an effor into making new things. Thanks for the post!

You're right. I do have the CAL and now outdated Istvaan Legion books, but they are bound in black, so it doesn't count. biggrin.png

I will probably skip on this book since there isn't much new info here, and it's all readily available online. Considering all of the changes can be summarized in a single page, I wish they had just released a FAQ PDF.

Since it does not include White Scars, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Thousand Sons, or Space Wolves, nor the new characters or unique Legion Rites, I think yet another reprinting that finally consolidates all of the unique Legion rules into one book is inevitable. Hell, it may even be part of a collector's bundle that also has an updated Crusade Army List that adds all of the stuff from books 4+ and the new generic rites.

Oh i misunderstood when i read 'nothing from book 6 is in here'....so the new traits are but the new RoW for those legions is not? So the WE section doesnt have crimson path for example even though it has the updated violence incarnate, is that accurate?

Nothing from book 6 is in there, period. Book 6 does not have updated rules for the various Legion traits, Book 6 has new characters and the new generic and legion-specific Rites of War. This red book combines and updates all of the Legion-specific information from books 1 through 5, that's it.
