Guiltysparc
I am building up a unit of despoilers to run with Khârn in my WE army. I was thinking i would go with MkIII since i like the looks of that mark the best. However, the rest of my marines from MkIV (BaC) and it looks like Khârn's armor is kind of MkIV as wel. So, i am thinking i could save a bunch of money by buying another BaC box and using those marines as my despoilers, but i would need to find the arms to get them to hold pistol/chainaxes...any thoughts on where i could source the arms or should i just grab the full despoiler FW kits? Quixus
Anvil Industry has some CC arms, not quite MK IV but they have a similar style. They also sell chain axes and pistols. Reyner
Could just get a load of ccw arms from Chaos Space Marines? Knock off the arrows and such and it isn't too far from mk2 really. Halandaar
Well bear in mind that each BaC Tactical squad comes with the appropriate arms and armaments to equip the Sergeant with a pistol and sword, so unless you used them already, you have a few there. Another BaC would give you three more, and the rest should be easily obtainable from eBay. I think cost effectiveness will largely depend on how many Despoilers you actually need. But thats a good point when figuring how many i need to buy if i buy seperately. Well if you need 20, I'd definitely go for the BaC marines and your choice of outsourced arms, which will almost certainly come in cheaper than 4 sets of FW Despoilers. CaptainStabby
I just ebayed 3 sets each of mk4 and mk3 arms for this exact purpose myself. The Anvil stuff is a good option, I dig all their work and they have a bunch of new choppy bitz now too! Elzender
I gotta agree with Quixus here, Anvil Industries might be a very good option, they have different styles of melee arms, such as medieval (I bought those to use them with the templar brethren kit for my IF) and even bare arms (with forearm protections that think would fit quite nicely your World Eaters). Moreover, as they sell the kits of right and left arms separate, you can mix and match as you please (I might be wrong but wasn't it that the uncovered arm was always the same with the WE?). PS: I'm in no way affiliated with Anvil Industries, but I am quite pleased with their products so far, and they seem a bunch of enthusiastic people, I recommend taking a look on their fb or webpage , specially for your HH needs. Guiltysparc
those bare arms would be good to set Inductii apart from regular tacs. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320244-despoiler-arms/#findComment-4333198 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
If you're looking for something more baroque, you've got Chaos Raptor and Chaos Space Marine arms. Third party wise, you've got Evil Craft, which works quite well. There's also Puppets War which has an amazing line of... well, everything. I'm kind of surprised that Kromlech doesn't make anything. DuskRaider
They're not bad from what I've seen. I don't own any of the arms from Puppets War, but I do have Evil Craft. The Puppets War heads aren't really all that bad, they're more in line with Forge World's scale than GW. depthcharge12
Well you can always look into recasters for this sort of thing. It's less of an issue considering FW doesn't have arms out specifically for this scenario that you need them. On top of that, it'd be prohibitively expensive to order despoilers just to only use their arms. Just a thought. The Eponymous M
To try something a bit different; have a look at Mantic Games Orc range. Arms are roughly the same scale as marine arms (plus have scrap iron pauldrons) and big choppy looking axes. It may be a personal taste thing, but Mantic's plastics are dead cheap and you could order just an odd sprue to try it out. The helmeted ones feel like they are more in scale for IG than marines, at least imo. Nova_chron
On the topic of despoiler squads I'm running my veteran unit with axes seeing as they are free was wondering if anyone had experience with "mounting" or mag locked axes on mk4 armor I was thinking along the side of power packs using forgeworld chaos chain axe kit that has no hands on it, or would you guys recommend a different kit? Guiltysparc
So I think I actually only need 10 more marines. I will have 10 mk4 marines left over from my BaC box, so I will just need to find 10 arms and then I think i'll get 10 mk3s from FW. I love the mk3 look and I think having a mixed unit of 4s and 3s in my Khârn lead despoiler blob would be cool. Terminus
I find MkIII blends very poorly with any other mark of armor, especially the cleaner newer ones. They are just too bulky compared to the rest of the miniature.
