TheBattenBurger
Hi Bolter and Chainsword Just a quick question. I am planning on converting a model I got cheap into a Saint Celestine for my upcoming Inquisition army (Plus Allies). I am worried it may be a big too big. So I ask... "How tall is the Saint Celestine model?" I just wanted mine to be a similar size of the model, not to match it completely. Thanks :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
The body is 1.8" (4.5cm) high from base to head, that increases to 2.5" (6.5cm) if you include her cape and cherubs (mostly the cherubim wings here). Values are slight approximates and start from the base level Don't forget to show us your conversion here in the cloisters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4333227 Share on other sites
TheBattenBurger
Thanks for the speedy reply, it was exactly what I needed :D My model is 8.5 centimetres from head to toe, the wings shouldnt add any height if all goes to plan. I usually like to make conversions slightly larger that the official model, that way when I play people who arent happy with them I can say "its larger so its to your advantage". Is 2cm larger a bit too much though? Thanks again for the replies :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4333255 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Celestine is (was?) raised a bit being on two bases, but I think 2cm might be quite noticeable as part of that height is the scrolls and she has straight legs so if your model is standing then the difference in scale would be significant. If she's similarly mounted/flying/etc then it probably won't be too bad? Hard to say without knowing more, but much of a model is in it's own scaling first and foremost I think. TheBattenBurger
I thought it might. The model is a standing woman. Its one of the main guys from Game of Thrones. My friend bought it but didnt like the model so I got it off him thinking to use it as A Celestine Counts as, with some heavy modification of course :D Would you like some pictures? WarriorFish
A rhetorical question I assume ;) Put a Sister in the picture too so we can get a better idea of the scale, though from the sounds of it she might be a bit too large. TheBattenBurger
Hi Guys, Here are the photos, as requested. I couldn't compare them to a Battle Sister Model as I haven't actually got one yet. I didn't plan to start my SoB section of my Inquisition army so early. I have the Assassins done and Deathwatch on the way. So I've compared them to models I have in my nearly complete Flame Falcon army though. The Base model on its own: http://i.imgur.com/0CN8D4q.jpg I think its Daenarys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. I though it might look good as a Saint Celestine with some heavy modification. Plus I don't have to paint the face, I suck at painting faces Next I have it next to a Sternguard Veteran: http://i.imgur.com/mtZdxgy.jpg I leveled them out so their bases didn't come into the height equation Next to an Assault Marine: http://i.imgur.com/LS1N79M.jpg I took this photo because I plan to put her with some Grey Knight Interceptors and this was the closest comparison. Next to a Rhino: http://i.imgur.com/uJi3Klc.jpg Just to show the true scale to be honest And as a bonus, here she is next to the God Emperor of Mankind: http://i.imgur.com/AoecJzg.jpg That is one big lady What do you guys think? I'm currently on the line of whether or not to use her. It'll be good to here your imput. Thanks (Forgive me if the Pictures/Spoilers don't work, its my first real go at them ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4333703 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
Your tags are fine. OK, yeah, she's way too tall. Celestine's height is mostly in her base, the fact she's flying, and the cherubs holding the cape up - the lady herself is actually only human sized. WarriorFish
Yeah, she's huge so is going to look really odd. Also probably too distinctive, nobody will look at that and think Celestine :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4333746 Share on other sites
Aqui
Whilst she is too big to use as Celestine, she could be used as a monument to an Imperial Heroine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4333748 Share on other sites
TheBattenBurger
Yeah, I suppose so. This is all pre modification though. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/270202-sisters-painting-vow/ There is a picture on this thread here of a converted Celestine that looks about the same size (But 1000 times more awesome ). The wings on mine wouldn't be spread out but folded up a bit like this... http://i.imgur.com/mDvO4qX.jpg I know its an X-men toy, but its the best image of what I mean I fully understand what you mean guys, its very large and its going to be difficult but I'm in a tight spot as I promised my friend I would use it in my army. There has to be some way I could make it usable. Any ideas on how I can convert this model would be greatly appreciated. It all seemed so simple when I got it :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4333780 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
Adeptus Mechanicus effigy built in recognition if a particular saint's assistance to the machine god. Use it as a Penitent Engine. Noeh
If only it was about half it's size..it would be a decent living saint. I took mine from her original base, added part of a flying base peg, and she's still shorter than that figure is :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320252-how-tall-is-the-saint-celestine-model/#findComment-4334369 Share on other sites
