Who conquered the most worlds? UM or SoH?

Copying and pasting 20 year old (and 5 editions out of date) information to prove a point that most people are willing to agree is semi valid but not definitive doesn't really accomplish much. Judging by your comments to the points raised, it seems you're only prepared to accept anything that agrees with your statement that the Ultramarines/RG are the best. You're hardly the first person to get all fanboy (and certainly not the worst) but I mean really? We'll agree to disagree.

And I'm done here

I believe that Horus had the most overall victories but Guilliman had brought the most human planets into compliance.

In terms of overall combat record, I would argue that Horus' legion had the best combat record, with the Ultra's in a close second.

I don't think the legions were very far apart in terms of combat record.

I am truly sorry if anyone felt forced to participate in this thread. Please feel free to ignore it it you have no interest in this issue, and have a wonderful day.

I'll be here talking about Warhammer 40,000 lore, thank you very much.

20 years or lore says the Ultras were the most successful. I'm not going to take a bit of ambiguity in a recent FW book as a retcon, and I won't take the writing in one of the HH books as Gospel that erases those 20 years of lore.

20 years of lore also says the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus, Dark Angels and I think even the Space Wolves were all the "most successful" in one way shape of form. Of course, this is also the same lore that says Ultramar is only made up of 8 worlds.

Omniscient narrator is not very omniscient.

Does it matter?

I mean if we want to get really anal about it don't we need to know about these conquests.

I mean If the Ultramarines conquered 12 works but 3 were barely habitable, and the Sons of Horus conquered 9 worlds but they included 2 major forge worlds and a several of strategic importance who is furthering the cause more?

And what state were these worlds in after the conquest. And how many stated litmus with out a standing marine presence.

But like I said at the beginning, does it really matter who conquered the most, or who had the largest legion, or whose Primarch would never fall or any of these stupid posts.

I thought that after Monarchia that the WB's conquered more than anyone in their search for the "TRUE GODS". Isn't that how he had such a huge legion and cultist army at the time of Calth and the Shadow War.

Technically, it's "faster", not more. But the Word Bearers' increase in numbers came from the fact that they drew a set number of recruits from every planet they conquered, and then drew an additional number for everyone Word Bearer who died in that specific "compliance", a 2-to-1 ratio if I remember right. And then I think they were also supposed to draw a certain amount of recruits after certain time periods. Basically, after 40 years, their numbers became virtually limitless and they could very easily even outnumber the Ultramarines, who they are currently only estimated to be equal with, only because of how fast they can replace their losses. Who knows what the actual number is.
