Word Bearers 2500 Last of the Serrated Sun

Morning guys,

 

I'm getting slowly a Word Bearers army and I've been a long time thinking about what kind of list I would want to play. After Retribution, I've finally made a project list to organize the models before I buy them (though I've already got some of them). I will pass from the classic massive infantry assault with daemons allies to a more specialized drop assault army, impersonated by Argel Tal himself and the Serrated Sun/Vakrah Jal chapter. That's basically because I simply started WB for the Gal Vorbak models after reading the first heretic, and I KNEW I would want to play with my beloved Argel Tal. Which leads me to the first question: how do you guys represent him on the tabletop? I've used the praetor entry (conversion on WIP :D) but it's a pity he hasn't S and T 5 as the GV. Do you know if there is any plan from FW to launch him, or at least his rules?

 

Anyway, here's my list I but would really appreciate any comment you have of it. You'll see I have not given up physic power for being a thing we WB stand out :) (at least until they release the sons).

So that's exactly 2500 points. I already have half BaC box, a unit of GV, the librarian and Argel Tal on a very early WIP, so what's next? Would you rather change something of it? I don't plan to win any tournament, only have fun with friends, but I'm very interest the list to be coherent with the crunch as well as the fluff. The support squad is armed with flamethrower for example only for fluff wise and awesomeness. As you see everything is on a drop pod except the big tac squad with the characters in the stormeagle. My plan would be to deploy on the first turn the dreadclaws with GV, but not disembarking, so in the next turn I could do so and assault, striking as well with the stormeagle and the flamers.

Don't know much about the rite or word bearers, but you can probably lose armour ceramite on the storm eagle and give it las cannons for better AT, which seems to be lacking in your list. Jut my 2 cents.

Agreed, and lose the Hellstrikes while you're at it - they're Ordnance weapons.

 

Actually, why not take a Kharybdis instead? Fits the theme, and gets you a 5th pod as well, which allows 3 on the 1st Turn.

 

Also, "Argel Tal" won't be able to go in a transport if he has a Jump Pack - normal Infantry only.

I might be nit-picking, but I'd drop the jump pack from "Argel Tal" too. And when did he have lightning claws?! I'd go for master-crafted sword or glaive to represent the custode weapons he borrowed... Or is your model representing the mutated Argel Tal? - in which case I accept lightning claws!

Ya that was sad, despite being a Night Lords player Argel Tal is still my favorite character in the HH series, really hope FW makes rules for him one day. 

 

I'd actually think a paragon blade would be the best weapon to represent the custodes weapon, since it's specialized you're not using a pistol alongside it in close combat so you could model Argel Tal with the two handed custodes glaive and have it be a counts as paragon blade. 

 

As far as your list goes, second taking a kharybdis, that was Logar gets to drop in turn one, plus I'm not a fan of the storm eagle. I also think overall you're a bit lacking in anti tank, you're going to have a really tough time dealing with stuff like spartans. The nice thing about this RoW is you're heavy supports are not restricted at all like drop pod assault, so why not drop the librarian for something like a ventator? Solid anti tank to deal with tough units like spartans. Given you've got Logar, really don't need that librarian.
