Jarl of Wulfen
Anyone have any experience painting the FW ZM board(s)? How much paint did you go through? Did you use an airbrush? Spray paint? Regular brushes? Which paint brand(s) did you use? How many tiles did you do? I ask these questions as I decided to go crazy, make my wallet she'd tears of blood, and bought the 4'x4' set. Obeliske
My buddy did it with a can of spray paint and some dry brushing. Final effect wasn't half bad. Ovidius Incertus
Never done a ZM, but I do large scenery buildings with rattle can black primer and then a heavy drybrush of generic acrylics (gray) from Michael's/Joanne Fabrics, etc. and finish with a light drybrush of a "good" light gray. Were I doing metal like ZM, I'd probably invest in a rattle can of Leadbelcher and then go in for weathering and details with "good paints" afterwards. warsmith
Also, its very important to make sure that you give everything a scrub with warm soapy water to remove release residue. One of my group tried to get away with this when he sprayed the board straight out of the box - suffice to say he didn't enjoy rubbing the paint off to clean it up properly! Jarl of Wulfen
ZM board arrived yesterday, got it scrubbed and ready for priming! Interestingly, the casting material had a black coloration to it. It doesn't seem like the normal resin that most FW stuff is made from. It felt lighter, more akin to GW plastic. Also of note, is that the tiles are slightly hollow.
