Ironwithout
Evening all. So i have been playing a lot since Scars have got rules but I have yet to play against a Primarch. This Wednesday I am playing against Raven Guard and the guy will be taking Corax. So my question is looking at the lists below what tricks, tips and tactics would you suggest. Bearing in mind I dont want to change my list as none of us like tailoring our lists against each other. So he will be running I assume Corax Praevian 2 Castellax with MM Chaplain Praetor Vet squad x15 Vet squad x15 Apothacaries x2 Deredo dreadnought Leviathan dreadnought Fire raptor gunship I think thats his 2500 points. Obviously im missing the upgrades. I will be running White Scars with the Chogorian Brotherhood RoW. Praetor Jetbike Iron halo Power fist Paragon blade Digital lasers Primus medicae Jetbike Power glaive Refractor field Command squad x4 Power axes Combat shields Melta bombs Jetbike squad x6 2 volkite Melta bombs Sargent Power glaive Jetbike squad x6 2 volkite Melta bombs Sargent Power glaive Lightning 4 kraken missiles 2 sunfury missiles Ground tracking Augaries Battle servitor control Lightning 4 kraken missiles 2 sunfury missiles Ground tracking Augaries Battle servitor control Javelins x3 Cyclones missile launchers 6 hunter killer missiles Whirlwind scorpius Whirlwind scorpius Sicaran battle tank Armoured ceramite Lascannon sponsons Help please! Slips
Ignore Corax and avoid him as much as possible. Kill the rest of his list instead use your speed to your advantage. You out umber him pretty markedly so use ot to your advantage. Attach him to a plasma support squad. He is a psyker so Corax will be hit at full bs + rerolls to hit thanks to primaris. Oops I just noticed you don't want to change your list. Please ignore :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320544-how-to-deal-with-corax/#findComment-4339930
SkimaskMohawk
With your list its pretty important to avoid him as you don't have any mass ap 2 to cut through his armour. Watch out for squads running 6" always late game when it comes to contesting/scoring. Not sure how he has 15 man vet squads though... Frater Cornelius
I am certain he means Tacticals. Corax will tear up close to one unit per turn from the second turn onwards. You can outpace that. If you really want to tackle him, there are two options. Kill the enemy units between him and your guys or use your superior mobility to move another unit closer to him. That way he loses him pseudo-invisibility. However, you lack ranged AP2, so hosing him down and hoping that he fails his 2+ saves will be your only option. Wolf Lord Loki
My experience of primarchs is limited to Guiliman but ive found avoiding him at all cost generally. Primarchs do terrible things to infanty. And bikers. So try and avoid the temptation to go for the glory kill. (i did and he flattened the praetor and all the command squad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320544-how-to-deal-with-corax/#findComment-4344473 Share on other sites

It really varies from Primarch to Primarch. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320544-how-to-deal-with-corax/#findComment-4344474 Share on other sites
SkimaskMohawk
He's softer if you have ap2 and are breaking his invisibility. If there's no ap 2 like in the OPs list then it becomes way harder. On top of that he needs to watch out for Corax Vector Striking his flyers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320544-how-to-deal-with-corax/#findComment-4344523 Share on other sites
Rage of Khorne
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you need more fast choices than heavy choices if using chogorian brotherhood? I see 3 and 3. Your army should deal with him easily enough if you keep him at arms length as long as possible and focus down the other elements of his army. If he cant kill 400 points of stuff by the end of the game you're doing well. Ironwithout
Cheers for the help guys. The game has been delayed till next week so i'll let you know how it goes. Rage of Khorne - no you cant have more heavy support then fast attack options. I had to check then you scared me lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320544-how-to-deal-with-corax/#findComment-4344602 Share on other sites
Rage of Khorne
Okay yea my bad. I didn't have the book with me. I'm building a similar list and was struggling with the heavy to fast ratio so I guess I had that stuck in my head. Good luck with your game!
