The Trash Talking, that is.

That had more to do with his Legion than the ETL

I'm a lot of things, but trying to challenge a subforum with 6 rule books and over 20 army lists is a bit more stupid than I am currently comfortable with.

Besides, you're already aboard this train devil.gifdevil.gif

Once the ETL starts im taking the Aett exit and painting for the Fang

I'm trying to decide if my 2 unpainted leviathans want to stick with the 30k RG or join me

Who would have thought 1 post could be so incendiary.

To be clear.. I am a member of the Space Wolves forum and the AoD forum.

I vowed Wolves in 2014 & Aod in 2015. I am vowing again for Wolves and then next year AoD

And so on...

Each forum has its merits,

AoD's diversity in models and the pressure to push, not only ones painting skills but to strive for completion (even if the overall completion rate of AoD did in the end seriously let it down last year)

The Space Wolves have far more of a brotherly pack mentality & are a little more laid back than AoD, where we swap ideas and techniques etc, which really enjoy.

So like the Wulfen of old I will be jumping through the Warp Gate to join my Aett kin this ETL.

But it doesn't mean that I can't keep an eye on what happens in AoD and offer encouragement where I can smile.png

Yes. Yes it does. This is the ETL, dantay! This is war! No mercy, no pity, no quarter! It's every faction for itself come May, and with that comes a choice: Victory, or death! So join your brothers in the Fang, wolf pup, ready your breakfast and eat hearty, for tonight, we all shall dine in hell!

:P

I kid, of course. I have nothing but love for all the subforums of the B&C, and eagerly look forward to facing them in the ETL, 'specially the AoD, which has basically become my new (virual) home, so I'll probably be popping into the Strategium here regularly to offer encouragement. I do have the strangest feeling, though, that this ETL is going to be the best one yet. :tu:

Will definitely be up for ETL again this year.

Have over 6000pts worth of stuff to paint across two different armies (my Iron Hands and my Mechanicum). Just need to do it in pledges that are manageable.

Another reason to look forward to May.

Put some time into prepping tonight and got this little amount ready

At my last count I'm looking at roughly 5,000 points in total, who knows that might significantly increase before closing time now the hobby bug has bitten

Well I am looking at some models in a checkout cart going can I afford to spend another £768?

I'll decide after I get some physio today for my back, ohh and I thought I should announce if etl starts may 15th I'll be in getting plastic surgery to turn my ears into normal people ears so fingers crossed semper starts it on the 5th so I can push my first vow out in 10 days

And it's good too see people coming out of the woodwork and showing us that they have some items ready!

Let's just remember every hour of every day etl approaches and with it 3 months of hobby joy! Etl always brings out the best in the community and we get to see our efforts presented at the end

Now I just want to quickly post the run down from etl last year and hope you take the time to read and see where we failed and where we were strong. Use this information to your advantage and realise that the smallest vow if completed helps us more than a big vow and tripping in your 3rd or 4th vow losing all the hard work

ETL IV Forum Champion: Kurama (4,267 pts)

The Heresy - the event, the game setting/rules from Forge World, and the series of books available from Black Library.' class='bbc ipSeoAcronym'>HH Forum went from zero in the first ETL to becoming the single most powerful Faction in ETL IV! It had the most participants and the most points pledged, which underlines the enthusiasm of this segment of the hobby! It attracted tons of other forums’ regulars and the quality of the output was just breathtaking. It was a joy to update this forum and see all this marvelous items coming to life, the conversions, the freehand, the whole lot!

But despite the enormous resources that this forum commanded something happened that robbed them of the top position that seemed to be theirs by right at the onset of the event. I cannot pinpoint it but I think the overwhelming numbers worked against them as people thought they’d win this without the need to each and every participant. Or it could have been an arbitrary thing. I can’t say.

Up until Week 6 the Heresy - the event, the game setting/rules from Forge World, and the series of books available from Black Library.' class='bbc ipSeoAcronym'>HH forum seemed to have the ETL hands down. Then in Week 7 they lost the pace and since then they never really went back on the saddle. Some pick up in week 12 and a great Week 13 was not enough to secure the first position – especially as Chaos kept those completions and re-vows going. The Week 7 to Week 10 slumber resulted in a fairly low re-vow rate of 52% that did not allow for a full utilization of their enormous resources. And this was even before we go to the penalties area…

Apart from the sluggish performance of Weeks 7-11 the Heresy - the event, the game setting/rules from Forge World, and the series of books available from Black Library.' class='bbc ipSeoAcronym'>HH faction was unlucky enough to suffer the largest amount of penalties any faction in any ETL ever suffered: a huge 9k worth of points had to be written-off as second and subsequent vows failed to deliver. Ironically this huge hit did not have any impact on either the positioning of the final outcome: Even without the penalties they’d still be in second position. True, the penalties resulted in IFOR almost stealing second place, but the sheer size of the Heresy - the event, the game setting/rules from Forge World, and the series of books available from Black Library.' class='bbc ipSeoAcronym'>HH resources made sure that even in such adverse circumstances the maintained the second place.

Now what will the future hold? Whatever it is, the ETL V will be the battleground to solve past differences and celebrate half a decade of the event!

Did you make the updates Kurama? hahaha!

It is true though, the initial enthusiasm last year did not last. July is a trying month for the ETL as the initial enthusiasm wanes and the end is not yet close enough to create panic. And yet that's where the event is won or lost! So, and that applies for every faction, the more you stay on track in July the more you maximise your chances.

Another thing to look for is the re-vow rate. It is important that if you complete the first vow fairly early in the event, that means you have ample time to build on that by adding more vows. So high completion rate in the first vow and a decent recap rate will go a long way to victory.

So stay on course during July and things will be much better vs. last year. :)

I just copied your post bud I'm on my phone and didn't want to have to remove all the other faction info.

I do agree with you on the re-vow rate and keeping on track, now the issue is especially here that people vow and then get distracted and don't come through. Now I'd love for you all to look seriously at what you can manage sometimes it's best not to vow if you know your not going to complete it, I understand real life takes priority over everything and im not that heartless that I want us to win at all costs.

Just remember it's about managing your skillset and having fun is first and foremost the priority, just plan your vows prepare your resin and most of all try something new and have fun doing it.

Over the next week I'll be starting to prime my tanks and await the official start as im itching to go, I may even strip some half finished models that never got finished due to procrastination or I may just relax till the start if etl.

Just remember guys 100% completion rate is the goal

I've just moved buuuuuutttt.....

I can drop a few quid on finishing my destroyers for my NL

And there might be some mongolian themed legionaries if I pick up a jet bike and some other bits.

Would be easier if some bugger would take the storm blade off my hands but hey the etl is 3 months it might happen!

But yeah I can probably scrape 700 points or so this year

Well I am looking at some models in a checkout cart going can I afford to spend another £768?

I'll decide after I get some physio today for my back, ohh and I thought I should announce if etl starts may 15th I'll be in getting plastic surgery to turn my ears into normal people ears so fingers crossed semper starts it on the 5th so I can push my first vow out in 10 days

This is my thinking, bang the prep work out before time, then chill out before it kicks off. May even go so far as to prime everything to get going but we shall see. I've still got a couple of hundred pounds worth of purchases to buy in too so the more that's ready to go come the big day the more I can buy/prep/prime/paint during the event itself

then I guess my vows (spread over 3 months) would be:

Cerastus Lancer+ occulars (410pts)

Cerastus Castigator+ Occulars (390pts)

Cerastus Archeon+ Occulars (425pts)

Horus (500pts)

Spartan+FS, AC,MM (360pts)

That's 2080pts already ;)

I'm in a mad rush of assembly and priming, to start proper for ETL. My room is now more trays of freshly sprayed miniatures than room!

At minimum I'm doing:

Salamanders Glaive

Salamanders Achilles

5 Salamander Pyroclasts

10 Veletarii

Lightning Primaris

Macrotek Enginseer with Servo-Automatrons

Iron Warrior Warsmith (Warpsmith model filed down)

Angyron

Khârn

3 Vorax

So a good 2-3k can be assured from the mighty Potato. If I finish them early a large Mechanicus order is likely.

I'm actually not sure this year what to paint for. I never paint much anyways. last year just 1 chaos knight paladin, that took me 3 months. But this year i have the B@C box, still unbuild and unpainted. Because 1) i'm not sure about my legion yet! and 2) need to buy CHOOM and bits, and i'm not sure when i can.

A question. I have an unpainted and unbuild Aquila Macro cannon stronghold. As HH can use all fortifications published (in for example Stronghold Assault), does that mean i could vow that? In the very least i hope to get a Legion Terminator squad with CHOOM, a veteran tactical squad, a tactical squad and a contemptor ready, but i don't think i will ever finish that stronghold if i can't vow it alongside the rest...

On the other hand, i have nothing to paint for chaos atm...

I think so... Better to ask Semper, tbh.

Damn right!

Another productive night. Even found an Achilles to use tongue.png

Sadly though only have a couple of characters left before I have to tackle the 70 odd marines I've got to assemble. Ah well nobody said victory would be easy
