This is all without any forgeworld goodies too!

After finally now finally watching Band of Brothers (as good as the book!) I can safely say that I'm starting a solar auxilia army. Malcador ahoy!

Cohngratulations to MindofMetal & Balthamal.

I hope you have every happiness with your bride to be & the day goes off without a hitch for both of you (its blimmin stressful on the day I can tell ya.... even worse when the bride has PMS)

Keep the initial vows small & manageable until after the wedding,

1. The missus wil not get too upset by you being distracted from her big day

2. Smaller achievable vows will be money in the bank for the ETL rater than big vows which risk going unfulfilled

Then you can gear up

DC, never been to Vegas, have a blast man....

Rayray: Quality is up to you. Preferably you paint to as high a standard as possible, the idea is not to simply do a 3 colour minimum & churn em all out. The idea is to paint to the best you can and to put out what you can. Its why I only vow 1 or 2 models per ETL... However I have the airbrush this year biggrin.png

Plural of Thanatat: Maniple?

Thank you sir however I'm not tying the knot until September next year so not only am I good for this years ETL but next years too :D

On the downside that probably means I'll be able to afford absolutely nothing to contribute to next years efforts but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Even if it's a Primarch I'll be throwing my hat in the ring

Guys guys guys come on now let's not jinx me here once im tied down we won't get to see as much resin from me and etl needs my wallet to stay empty.

So I started priming.... need more primer didn't realise how quickly I'd go through it

@Dantay- The reason I bring quality up is because I recall that getting lost some in years past with other members in the chaos forum and wolves forum when I vowed under them. I know its probably a difference of opinion with Kurama, but I would feel better knowing my team came in second with top tier models rather than 1st with junk, as one of the perks of siding with AoD is getting in on improving my paint jobs to the level of AoD posters that I've seen in the past.

Buddy I'm all about that quality and believe me Olis semper myself BCK flint and every other heresy representative will be pushing for quality from participants, now if someone only wants table top quality that's their choice I know some frater have a hard time with making artificer award winning center pieces but that's not what we ask, what we ask is for you to do your best and complete within your own comfort zone.

I personally last year pushed myself and managed to produce quality like such;

which for me is outstanding compared to 2 years ago, I would rather you vow low and produce quality then just spray red wash and detail and call complete, now if that's what you wish to do that's fine but the spirit of etl is supposed to be motivation and fun.

The competitive side is just for fun and pushing others on the site to step up and try win etl for a 3rd time, don't think it's win or loose but in saying that if you commit to this event you should do everything you can to succeed for not only yourself but your fellow frater, we are a band of brothers here traitors loyalists chaos wolf blood angel dark angel Templar codex Guard sister of battle admech were all one site and we should always remember that

I meant no offense, but the primary focus on winning this ETL and smack talk that I've seen was really giving me, a newcomer to the subforum, some second thought on what AoD was in it for. It's easy to see everyone's enthusiasm towards just winning and misinterpret it as turning into exactly what the good captain told us this contest isn't about. BTW, the quality of that Horus model is what I plan on shooting for. Making those you idolize into competitors is going to be a fun task this year.

That Horus is out-freaking-standing.

I reckon one of your best pieces.

For my side of it, I'll paint to my best, as I am sure a lot of folks will in the SW forum too. I thnk some folks get carried away a bit with trying to churn out as much as they can.

You also have to remember not everyone is a Rembrandt with an airbrush or a paintbrush. Many are still learning or are new, so it is important to coach them along.

It is also why there is the Artificer award for each forum.

I'll let WLK walk away as forum champion, because my output is low, but I am damned if Iam not gonna be in the hunt for the artificer award smile.png

Just got to beat the likes of Wispy, Tommie Soule, Mercbat and a whole pack load of others biggrin.png

I completely understand and your right yes we can be very off putting with our (my) over enthusiasm, in fact I remember depthcharge12 slipstream and myself got in trouble for recruiting and upsetting some fraters with our.... zeal

The right-most one looks like it's going 'hey, look what I found!'. Those are some nice models, almost makes me wish I'd gone with Mechanicum rather than the Legions. I've finally settled on what my own modest contribution will be for this ETL;

- Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought - Anvilus Autocannon Battery = 185 points

(Not sure how to represent Armoured Ceramite on it, so I've left that out. I'll also have hopefully worked out how to paint a yellow that isn't awful by then)

- Legion Terminator Praetor = 190 points

- Legion Terminator Command Squad = 255 points

That's for Vows 1 and 2. If I end up with some cash to spare I may just put in a FW order and see about getting some MkII marines and WS bits. (Or I may end up going for some Rhinos)

I still water at the mouth about doing Mechanicum! The modelling opportunities combined with an easier painting regiment is something that's always been shiny to me. But alas, the legions are my love. Astartes and Titanicus :)

(And no, I don't regret giving my mech models to Afro :P )

The right-most one looks like it's going 'hey, look what I found!'.

I'm not completely happy with it, but 1 in three won't have the two-handed grip on the weapon and there's only so much you can do with the arms that are proving difficult to convert.

Regardless of the hand, the jealousy stands. Now they just need the wall-e faces in the helms.
