ETL V- Motivation and Preparation AoD unite!

I'm not going to make any promises this year. I was one of those who made a vow last year and never completed it. If I remeber correctly it was scouts, the only thing I could pledge and the only thing I hate painting.

I remeber why I didn't paint, it was GW. Games workshop released the new space marines codex and I fell in love again with the black Templars so I lost all motivation.

To remedy this I won't make any promises till may at the deadline.

@Atia: We'll be happy to see those Daemon Princes and the Knight grace our strategium. Tamurkhan too, although no idea what to classify him as. That's a job for the good Captain. We'll take the Word Bearers as well, we're not fussy!

@Olis: You see slacking, I see confidence.

Dragonlover

You guys might be over confident and cocky over in the chaos forum but just remember planning led to istvaan and planning will cause chaos to be the victims of our strength.

Admittedly you'll fight back but eventually you will know your place as the flesh eater virus eats into your joints and we then turn the very air you breathe into atomic ash

Good to have a motivational thread, because I feel my commitment slacking even now. Battling the 'grass is greener' syndrome is probably the toughest fight of my life Oo

But I must resist temptation because it will not be worth it in the long run. Still, it feels a little lonely as a loyalist of the 3rd.

Loyalist Children are the only way :D

Ah the ETL. Lovely way of spending last sumer, lovely way of spending this summer with my way larger stockpile and actual plans ;)

Also, as with last ETL, pledges made for the ETL will be allowed to be tracked for the Casual challenge. If nothing else then to make management of ETL pledges oh gods so many damn Iron Hand marines I had to paint..) easier ;)

I am really looking forward to the competition again this year - should be excellent. If I wasn't (as ever) pledged for the Chaos cause, I would be here - and it's great to see so many lovely 30k armies taking form.

You will no doubt have a lot of momentum with the new Heresy box-set release, but just remember who betrayed you at Calth ;)

Brother I will never forget that's why you guys make such great rivals, im hoping to see some big things from you like normal but at least your standing with your Brothers over there.

Just remember were always here for when the time comes

Damn straight.

Means I can finally plan and tackle some of this pile of 3rd legion resin I have lying around.

Now the question is 3000ppimts of just infantry or shall I splurge on some tanks (as I don't have any armour yet....)?

Forward the 156th! For the Emperor!

Aye, the competition will be fierce. And, speaking only for myself, the idea of a close contest appeals much more than a drubbing by one side or the other. Maybe that is why last year will be memorable - the fight ended up being closer than expected. :D

The least you can do is respect your opponent and treat him with the amount dignity a warrior fighting for a cause deserves. While you stab him with your sword that is ;)

I haven't bought any superheavies this year, and little acquisitions to speak of. Here's what I can muster scrapping the drawers and consolidating assets into Heresy ;)

I have available to paint :

Spartan

15 gorgons

Sicaran Battle Tank

Thunderhawk (if I still own it by then)

30 Immortals

Seige Breaker

Iron Father

Master of Signals

Artificer Armour Command Squad

2 Leviathans

3 Proteus Landraiders

Xiphon

Primaris Lightning

Vindicator Laser destroyer

4 Predators

Well, I have a lot of angry, AP2 wielding, I6 punching purple dudes. However, I need to approach it in bit-sized chunks, especially considering that I never painted purple and in fact haven't painted in quite a while now. I suppose I will start with the easiest, the rank and file dudes.

You can keep your FNP won't make a difference when your glorious flesh is flayed and your bionics rusted or reused. ;)

I would like to echoe what Immersturm has said, whatever the hell your vows point size is make sure that it reasonable for YOU to complete. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that I would rather you only give a single 100 point vow that you can compete rather than a 1000 point vow that you cannot complete. Remeber that you can always break up the vow into tiny parts if you need to.

Makes me almost want to give up my flesh and go full steel legion...almost.

I've currently got:

3 10 man terror squads all with volkites

1 dreadnought

1 catapratchtii squad

1 drop pod

1 chaplain-who has been in a whopping 5 b&c painting events and is yet to be painted.

An HQ marine who may be a praetor

A terminator HQ

And whatever $400 can buy me from forgeworld.

The inner history nerd in me screams " I need a grim dark B-29 Superfortress". The reality in me tells me to shut up :).

I honestly have no clue what I'll do with it. I have this problem where I try to be opposite from everyone else, just for the hell of it. I see a lot of tanks, might go and grab me some infantry the only question is what.
