Strength 10 Posted April 27, 2016 Share Posted April 27, 2016 Cheers guys! @Strength 10: Thank you very much mate Well I don't exactly have a recipe but I utilize a lot of the technical paints like rust and oxide as well as glazes and washes. I can do an example. The black metal Undercoat black Paint it silver metallic Black wash*2 Dark brown wash*2 Sponge with silver to get that flaky look Very lightly add rust here and there Then do the same with oxide Then use a dry silver to lightly bring more edge to it Finally a very light round of rust again The point is to have depth and texture, make it grimy and gritty but bringing each color and detail forward so its not only a smudge. Hope that helps Thanks mate, that really helps a lot. I like the idea of adding texture to the model with different techniques. Note, that it’s the last part of the “good guys”. I’ll be switching over to the Genestealer cult next! I’ve had that Valkyrie lying around for a while but I’ve always intended to use it for an INQ28 project instead of the typical big fat henchman with heavy weapon. In addition after completing the retinue it left me wanting to do a bit more for Berrugoete. So after mocking up a shuttle I thought it would be cool with a pilot and a droid. Starting on those I missed a step with the droid making it way to big. Voila, Berrugoete just hired a tech priest! Going back I found some suitable bitz and created a smaller service droid as well. I don't know how much you know about the project but me and WilhelMiniatures are doing this as a Deathwatch vs Genestealer cult but more in the INQ28 vein. I drew deathwatch first (we'll both do both sides and then alternate while gaming) which I wasn't super stoked with but then I just thought up the weird factor until I'm happy with it.
