Ishagu
Hey guys. I believe this is the main list I'll be running from now on. I've decided to focus on building a strong Ultra force before I start adding allies like Solar Auxilia... HQ: -Legion Centurion, Chaplain Consul, Artifacer Armour, Refractor Field -Legion Centurion, Praevian Consul, Artifacer Armour, Refractor Field, Power Fist +2 Castellax Battle-Automata, Darkfire Cannons, Enhanced Targetting Array Troops: -Legion Tactical Squad, Sgt with Combi-Plasma, Rhino -Legion Tactical Squad, Sgt with Combi-Plasma, Rhino -Invectarus Suzerains, Landraider Phobos, Armoured Ceramite, Multi-Melta Elites: -Legion Quad Launcher Support Battery, Shatter Shells -Legion Quad Launcher Support Battery, Shatter Shells Heavy Support: -Legion Sicaran Battle Tank, Las Cannon Sponsons -Legion Sicaran Battle Tank, Las Cannon Sponsons -Deredeo Dreadnought, Anvilus Autocannon, Aiolos Missiles, Heavy Bolter Lord of War: -Roboute Guilliman So, it's a pretty self explanatory list. Guilliman awards the Sicarans with tank hunters. Between them, the Deredeo and the Support batteries they'll be able to chip down vehicles quite easily. The Primarch will advance alongside the Suzerains and Chaplain in the Landraider. The Praevian and his Castellax are going to hang back as a counter-charge unit or to assault marines arriving in Pods, if not they'll advance alongside the Landraider. I like the idea of the t7 units. I can also exchange the Deredeo and drop a few upgrades here and there to instead run a unit of 2 Vindicators with Laser Batteries :-) **Edit** Slight ammendment to the list. Reyner
Looks good :) I am thinking of something similar for my Ultramarines (apart from the Deredeo, mine is marked for my Iron Warriors). Lord Asvaldir
Looks a bit light on bodies, but that's pretty inevitable when you've got a bunch of tanks and a primarch. Dozer blades on all your transports would be nice if you can find the points, but besides that I wouldn't change anything else. Ishagu
Originally I was going to add 20 Solar Auxilia Infantry, a Tank commander and a Malcador Infernus. If you feel the list is too light on bodies I can always invest in those instead - it would be a stronger force but it will cost me more to put together lol (I'd only need to buy the two Castellax to complete the list above) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4345202 Share on other sites
God-Potato of Mankind
Potato likes. Potato very likes. Good firepower. Good mobility. Good CC deterrent. caladancid
Would you put the Solar Auxilia in a Dracosan? I like the list. Haven't seen one with the battle automata in it before, seems really interesting. I am not a huge fan personally of the Castellax (I know, I am the only one) but I do like this combo of units quite a bit. Ishagu
I'd have a 20 man Auxilia blob on foot if I was running them. Their guns all fire twice at a 30" range so they can function well as a unit in cover. I've settled on the Castellax now anyways, just waiting on some bits from eBay so I can make a convincing Praevian to lead them :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4348841 Share on other sites
Fangbanger
List looks ok. Think you are light on men and will struggle against AV 14 and flare shields' but who doesn't right? I personally wouldn't run the list as it seems a bit vanilla and lacks flavour, however thats the ultramarine way I suppose... ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4348855 Share on other sites

I personally wouldn't run the list as it seems a bit vanilla and lacks flavour, however thats the ultramarine way I suppose... ;-) I'm not too concerned with a Spartan as long as I can deal with it's contents ;-) As for my list lacking flavour, it's true that I haven't focused on any one theme (eg: Shooting/assault/Siege) but I do have the quality of units to deal significant damage at range and up-close, and I have the mobility to get around the board. When I get home later I'll try to remove the Hunter Killer missile from the Landraider so I can replace it with a Multi-Melta. Da Once & Future Git
Love this list, it looks like it has a some great combinations and should be really fun to play with and against. I'd love to take my EC up against it! It's vanilla, but really, that's not a bad thing at all, specially for Ultras. The only real suggestion I have is to put a dozer blade on the Land Raider in place of the HK missile. Ishagu
I've ripped the HK missile off and I'll be adding a Multi Melta instead. I would add Dozer Blades, but frankly I have no idea how to model one on a Raider... I've seen some cool conversions online but they'll require additional purchases and work... I just spent 6 quid on a new Multi Melta lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4349545 Share on other sites

Ishagu
Mate you could of just had mine... Lol that would have been great! The weapon has already been dispatched unfortunately. I bought it from a bits seller on ebay alongside a few other parts.A quick question: What's a better use of 20 points; a Multi Melta on the Landraider or Artifacer Armour on each of the Tac Squad Sgts? I'll be making the Pintle weapons interchangeable... I've also realised just how handy a Combi-Flamer would be for the Praevian. Would guarantee Preferred Enemy against something that charges you, or if you charge something. Reyner
I'd say the arti armour is better, lets you potentially tank a few wounds. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4349906 Share on other sites
Fangbanger
Arti armour us ok but with so much high ap stuff floating around I find it doesn't do too much. I'd sooner have the power first on a sarge (however I am always looking to get into combat) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4349929 Share on other sites

Ishagu
Here's what my list will potentially look like at a smaller, 2000 point level. I'm not sure if I have enough ranged Dakka when I drop the Sicarans... (I actually have all the models outlined below ready to go) HQ: -Legion Centurion, Chaplain Consul, Plasma Pistol Troops: -Legion Tactical Squad, Sgt with Power Fist, Rhino -Legion Tactical Squad, Sgt with Power Fist, Rhino -Invectarus Suzerains, Landraider Phobos, Multi-Melta Elites: -Legion Quad Launcher Support Battery, Shatter Shells -Legion Quad Launcher Support Battery, Shatter Shells Heavy Support: -Legion Vindicator, Laser Destroyer Array, Combi-Bolter -Legion Vindicator, Laser Destroyer Array, Combi-Bolter -Deredeo Dreadnought, Anvilus Autocannon, Aiolos Missiles, Heavy Bolter Lord of War: -Roboute Guilliman So, it's a similar list but less volumes of fire, and less mobility. The Vindicators can hopefully deal damage in the initial turns, especially when combining Ordinance with Tank Hunter. Fangbanger
Personally I prefer sicaran to deredeo. Greater maneuverability and can ignore jink Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320759-2500-points-of-pure-ultramarines/#findComment-4350967 Share on other sites
