ElectricPaladin
Has anyone else ever had trouble with a bottle of superglue being... just bad? I've been putting some models together, and at first I thought it was that I wasn't washing the resin well enough... but then I moved on to some plastic kits I had, and I'm having the same problem. It never... freaking... cures. Okay, that's not fair - it gets hard eventually. But I swear, I've got to hold the model together for five minutes before it's tacky enough that I can move on. I've had to use accelerant in order to get stuff done. So... what do you think? Bad batch of glue? Does that happen? Should I ask my store to replace it? Demus Ragnok
Have you used the same brand before? I've had different brands require very different set time. Yeah, I've used this brand before. Unless my store switched the manufacturer of the branded bottles they sell. ElectricPaladin
How's the weather/humidity near you right now? It's warm, in the low 70s. 66% humidity according to Google. Teetengee
Humidity seems a bit high, so might be causing some trouble, but the temp sounds just right. Might just be a bad bottle. Kaedes Nex
I found an old bottle of Gorilla Superglue that I had lying around, which was more liquid than my newer bottle which was more gel-like. I remember getting better results with my older bottle before I lost it, so I started using it again. The drying time is very slow for some reason. Maybe older bottles take longer to dry. How old is yours? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320823-bad-bottle-of-superglue/#findComment-4347794 Share on other sites
Captain General
My older bottles take longer to dry/set too. I've had this problem with all brands I have used. I have improved them by adding glue from a new bottle to the old bottle, seems to re-set the drying time.
