Machine God
Not really talking that sort of use of the language, leaning more towards the Galba type, as we see in veritas ferrum and DoP. Hell, better than a Brummie or Geordie accent. I could just see Oz as a SoH Marine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320879-cthonian-language-and-accent/page/2/#findComment-4349097 Share on other sites

Daemon2027
    I always imagined cthonian like a harsh an cold language like the wikings from norway spoke.  Listen to Khold a norwegian black metal band. Thats how I imagine them to talk. German might be a bit to smooth and noble for the SoH, the IF are way more fitting.  English, either american or british, is way to poppy floppy smoothy nice to be a hard language. I hope no marine talks english. Imagine marines talking chinese, even worse O.o The English accents, specifically more London/Essex make perfect for Iron Hands, most accents can be quite hard if the speaker has the vocal ranges of an Astartes. @Cthonia - No, no, no! I'm not having my favourite Legion denigrated like that! I'm not having the Xth being thought as talking like a mis-mash of Baz-Vegas Chav's, Mocknies, TOWIE's and Cockney's!  Edit:  @Marshal Rohr - I think you will find that ADB is from Ulster not Bangladesh so he's British. Aaron lives in Northen Ireland now but according to his blog he's from London originally which would make him English. I'm sure I once read on his blog once that he was from around Heathrow which would be the same part of north west London that I'm from. It's a :cuss hole, but no one here talks like any of those people you listed. depthcharge12
At least the Cthonians don't have that crazy Cockney/stereotypical English voice: Â *Abaddon to Horus on the bridge of the Vengeful Spirit* Â "Top o the mornin guvna! Wot sorts o 'eresy we be muckin about today in wot wot? We give em imperial buggers a right thrashin we do!" Olis
Â I quite like the idea of Sooth Ifrican Cthonians... Â Cthonians with an Afrikaans accent. Â Yeah, kinda in the same vein as Neil Blomkamp's recent films with Sharlto Copley. That's mostly as far as my experience with Afrikaans goes, unfortunately. Kelborn
I quite like the idea of Sooth Ifrican Cthonians... Â As I said. ^^ Terrans can stick with a more british accent or something like that. But the Cthonians...would be funny. ^^ Please no German accent. I am German and I don't have any clue to which legion it could fit... apparently none. Don't want to imagine a bad ass Space Marine with this stereotypical accent....oh wait... STEEEL REHN!!!!! :cuss...forgot him. -.- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320879-cthonian-language-and-accent/page/2/#findComment-4349447 Share on other sites

STEEEL REHN!!!!! :cuss...forgot him. -.- That's besides the point because everyone has an accent speaking a second language. No space marine becomes a space marine speaking High Gothic. So while some accents might sound unusual, everyone sounds unusual equally. Even on Terra, High/Low Gothic is the lingua franca, and everyone's lingua materna depends on what part of the planet they are from. GreyCrow
The way the audiobook make Horus and Abbadon sound looks like a mixture of English inflexions with American phonetics. BrotherGecko
They won't sound like any accent know to current Earth. Palatal though describes a romantic style language as far as I remember.
