Jerichus
I'm not sure where exactly to put this.... So I'll just throw it up here and hope for the best. So, I'm getting into 30k(as you might be able to tell from the link to my painting log(Shameless plug)) and, with a somewhat solid base of models I wanted to get the full rules so I can play my pretty Ist Legionaries. Anyway, I've been hearing lots of talk about how the general 30k armylist book is outdated and is going to be redone this fall/winter(I'd like to start playing with the rules before this). This puts me in an awkward position as I was planning on getting into this ruleset by buying that Red Book + Book 6 bundle. From my point of view; I'm entirely confused as to how to proceed. Granted, I do have a couple options. I can buy both books but potentially have the red book be unusable in a couple months(not fun), I can only buy book 6 and hope I can make do with that(unsure), or I could wait until the Crusade Legions book is updated and get it then(not exactly ideal). So, considering I'd rather not waste my money by buying a book that'll be invalidated a couple months down the line if at all possible; here are a couple questions: 1)What, if anyone knows, would I be missing if I got the current Red book instead of waiting? 2)Should I just get book 6 and get the Red Book once its updated, or will I need the red book as well to play any sort of coherent force? Thanks very much to everyone for reading, and I hope you folks can help me if it's not too much of a bother(You're my only hope Obi!) Slips
Save yourself the money for now. And buy the updated LA:CAL Book when it gets released. Be creative in your sourcing of the current one but I expect to see you post a picture of you having the Updated book in hand. Charlo
Yep, just wait at this point. Like Slips said, you can aquire the red book in other ways for now, save you dropping cash on it only for it to, best case, have an FAQ stapled to it in a few months time. Guiltysparc
i'm in the same boat, started building my 30k army over the holidays and decided to find other sources for rules while waiting on updated red books. I'm playing world eaters though so i picked up the updated AOD red book and Retribution last week. I'll still use my ill gotten copy of the CAL red book but once it get updated i'll be buying a legit copy. I don't think there is anything wrong with that approach. Deekthegreat
You can use battle scribe or army build or any army list building set ups to get access to the basic units. Then use retribution for your special rules. If you have questions regarding soecific wargear im sure whoevee younplay with will let you gander at the army list book to clear up any issues Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/320882-uncertainty-about-the-crusade-legions-book/#findComment-4353033 Share on other sites

I'll probably use that in combination with my myriad experimental fw pdfs to get everything sorted.
