ThatOneMarshal
Hey everyone so I've recently run into a bit of a problem. I really like the rules for the solar auxilia but the models are a bit iffy for me. So I'm wondering if the armor that auxilia wears is uniform and absolute, in that all auxilia wear that uniform or is it just a variation? I don't have any of the books that deal with the fluff for auxilia so I would be greatly happy if anyone could help. I'm liking the idea of instead using krieg models to represent auxilia. Charlo
Really, it's up to you. The main thing about the Auxilia army is that the armour is void hardened as standard, and kriegs don't exactly look like that... That said, it's your Hobby and a unit of Krieg with Volkite chargers would look INCREDIBLE Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321047-solar-auxilia-uniforms/#findComment-4352970 Share on other sites
Ion
It's pretty absolute fluff-wise, though I suppose you can proxy. That armour design is part of their whole thing, like an Astartes' power armour. Solar Auxilia are known for their special armour which helps them fight in void combat and harsh environments. I can't really see Auxilia wearing the Krieg style uniforms personally. Sandlemad
The Solar Auxilia are pretty strongly associated with broadly standardised (for the 31st millennium) gear shown on the models, laid down as part of them fitting the 'Solar' pattern that also dictated their organisational makeup and training. So it's 'absolute' in that these regiments were considered 'Solar' because of their equipment, among other things. That said, you could say your regiment achieved Solar pattern recognition with the Administratum in certain regards (organisation, use of sealed tanks, standards of training in void warfare) but not others (typical gear). Have to agree with Charlo though, the normal Krieg troops don't look quite as void-armoured as FW's solar auxilia models. Maybe you could emphasis their unusually efficient rebreathers and some sort of... exotic void-proof ballistic weave in their greatcoats? The Krieg stormtroopers look the part though. GhostMalone
Honestly if your going krieg you might as well go Imperial militia it's pretty much the same thing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321047-solar-auxilia-uniforms/#findComment-4353042 Share on other sites
ThatOneMarshal
Yeah I might just go and do a cult and milita force. So it seems that their armor is the equivalent of power armor in regard to how iconic it is to them? If so I'll either try to find a way to love them or just go cult. Only thing holding me back is rules wise but that's a topic for another day. Thanks everyone! Cry Wolf
personally id think with tight fit armour UNDER the greatcoats the kreig guardsment could represent Solar Auxillia, remember all fighting forces in 30k used generally non standard equiptment due to the speed of progression of the great crusade, whos to say the auxillia are an exceptionremember even astartes had VASTLY different armour types, (compare Mk1 to MK 5 and the like)Im using Elysians to represent my auxillia allies to Valhallan MalitiaMust say though Malitia is an awesome and fun list, much more so than auxillia imo, Malitia has so many options, Auxillia is Las sections an couple of axe sections and Russes in the vast majority, malitia can do anyhting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321047-solar-auxilia-uniforms/#findComment-4353511 Share on other sites
