Primarch's Chosen vs Pride of the Legion

What's the point of the Primarch's Chosen RoW? It seems very similar but inferior to the Pride of the Legion RoW.

Both can take a Primarch, but PC effectively blocks a HQ and a LoW slot.

Both must take terminators and or veterans as compulsory troops choices. PotL also allows the special terminator units (Lernaean etc.)

For PC, killing a single model (the Primarch) removes the scoring ability from all units in the detachment. PotL only gives the opponent an additional VP if he destroys all veterans/terminators.

PotL can't have allies.

So am I missing something or is PC only interesting if you take allies?

The reason people take Primarch's Chosen is that it lets you take a Primarch in a game smaller than 2,000 points, the size where you'd normally be allowed a Lord of War. If you read the fluffy description for it in Book 6, it basically says it's to represent a Primarch taking to the field in a smaller engagement.

This.

Also Zone Mortalis says "hi" :D

It's meant for smaller games - similar to the Delegatus' Chosen Duty RoW that lets you have Vets as troops with less downsides than Pride.
