(REQUEST) Index Astartes Maker needed :)

You don't need fancy programs to make a DIY article that has good production value.

For starters, all you need to post an article here is a decent grasp of the BBCodes, and all of these are explained in the official BBCode Guide.

We've also provided some starter templates for DIY articles here (this is, unfortunately, an unfinished project, but everything you need for an article on an Adeptus Astartes Chapter is here).

When I create an article, I use three programs: Microsoft Paint, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Photoshop. It would probably be fair to add Acrobat Reader in there, but that's only to read the pdf version of the article (and the conversion to a pdf document really takes place using Word). Using just those three programs, I've created articles such as The Nova Hawks Chapter (you can see the BBCode version of that article here) and The Order of the Faithful Sword (BBCode version of the article).

My point is that creating an article isn't as difficult as you appear to imagine, and even the most basic of software tools can be much more powerful than you imagine. You'd be amazed at what you can do on your own.

My advice is look for a background image you like the look of (say those old army specific templates GW offered to write army lists on) and via a word processor of your choice use text boxes to keep it neat and within background images.

Easy and effective.
