Spinsanity
As said, we've had at leadt one instance of a marine interfacing with a ship (was it in Gildar Rift? I know it was a Silver Skull), so compared to a space marine battlebarge, a knight has to be relatively tame. Soldier of Dorn
As said, we've had at leadt one instance of a marine interfacing with a ship (was it in Gildar Rift? I know it was a Silver Skull), so compared to a space marine battlebarge, a knight has to be relatively tame. But the kid in The Gildar Rift wasn't a full Space Marine. As I recall, he was a (failed?) aspirant who basically got transferred out of Space Marine school before he could get his black carapace into a special experimental program for becoming a BAMF Battle Barge. He underwent an entirely different training regimen to the rest of his fellow neophytes in order to simply not go insane immediately upon bonding with the ship, and even then, I think it was said that the ship's machine spirit would eventually consume him. I think it could have been a much better thought out plan on the part of the Silver Skulls, personally. All that being said, it's your hobby. If a concept or an idea appeals to you, by all means, go for it. No one can tell you what you can and cannot do, and so don't let them. That's why we've got out of the box things like Bladewolf's 14th Great Company and the Hawkshrouds of Boar's Rock. Hell, Hyaenidae is the living incarnation of out of the box thinking what with his Firstborn and Hyenas of the VI Legion attached to Post-Apocalyptic Mercenary Druggies from Panama and Catholic Iron Warrior Captains, and he's easily one of the most respected members of the B&C. While not everyone on the forums will agree with your ideas or concepts, there is no doubt in my mind that you will receive lots of support from this community. Corsovitt
I don't think it's an idea beyond those which are currently being explored in the HH series from BL for example Iron Hands Zombie Legionaires from the short story 'Riven' or the Thousand Sons marine who commands a Titan in 'A Thousand Sons' On the loyalist side you have the shattered legions who would use whatever assets they had to hand to juryrig additional firepower... On the traitor side you have several clearly insane apothecaries and forge Lord's without mentioning dark mechanicus who might use a mortally wounded warrior to pilot a knight just to see what happens. And finally as a black shield without access to the logistics most legions can expect might again look to jury rig just such an item in order to help it carve out an empire. I say go for it I mean in first edition RT dreadnoughts were usually a punishment. ronin_cse
Steak is delicious. Chocolate is delicious. Mixing steak and chocolate probably won't be as good as either of them independently. Actually, a beef steak with chocolate-redwine sauce is pretty yummy. But seriously, why would you want a Marine Knight? Knights are so cool on their own, they don't need to be Marines too (same applies for Rogue Traders or Genestealer-infected Patriarchs^^). A Throne Mechanicum would be too small, and probably not modify-able to fit a Marine. And it's not that Knight houses have not enough scions, but rather not enough suits. Since you brought up Genestealers....could a Knight be modified to be piloted by a Genestealer or a Genestealer cultist? Imagine the awesome conversions that people (other than me) could do! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321145-marines-piloting-knights/page/2/#findComment-4357926 Share on other sites
