wilks
Hiya, I'm not sure if this topic should be here or the PCA forum so sorry if it is in the wrong place, but it is related to the heresy tho kinda. Anyway I have been making my BAC models and am a big fan, I absolutely love maximus armour. However there is a problem that has cropped up now and that is repeated poses. With thirty tac marines it was bound to happen but I would like some more variety and was wondering, as I have at least 2 40k tac squads unmade if I can use their arms instead of the calth ones, as it opens up a whole world of extra pose options including close combat arms, but do they follow the fluff tho? Is it a massive stretch they have this different arm armour? and does it look ok? I would like to keep all originals but the lack of differing arms is starting to drag and I would like more variety, more heroic arm flailing poses Anyway if anyone has any examples maybe in their own plogs, or if they have any experience combining the 40k tac arms with BAC and how they thought it looked would be appreciated. Thanks all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321160-40k-tactical-arms-on-the-bac-marines/ Share on other sites
Torvak Kyre
The normal tactical squad arms are so similar to the MKIV arms I would probably not even notice let alone mind them being used. Anyway there were lots of different forge worlds producing armour. Some differences are bound to crop up somewhere Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321160-40k-tactical-arms-on-the-bac-marines/#findComment-4356066 Share on other sites
AceofCase
Go for it. Space Marines are going to mix and match pieces of armor to keep the suits going. I've used all sorts of various marks of armors for the same miniature. Just go with what looks the best to you. BrotherGecko
Easiest way to do it is take the MK7 tactical arms and shave off the wrist ring. Instant MK7 arms which are technically also MK7 arms which plants them firmly in the right time period. Or you can shave off the ring and shave the forearm down enough and green stuff it to look more MK4. Kaedes Nex
Almost all the power armor arms that GW and FW put out are interchangeable with all the bodies, provided the hand and weapon are compatible (e.g. hand on weapon with a handless weapon, or vice versa). I often run out of Mk V arms, or am too lazy to dig out a Mk VII or IV arm and use a Mk V arm instead. It works just fine and adds variety. If you look at older artwork like IA9 and IA10 when FW was first producing older marks of armor as models, you'll notice they don't even have special backpacks or arms for things like Mk IV. They simply used Mk VII looking backpacks and arms until they updated the art to reflect the models later on in IA12 and HH. Not a single image in IA9 or IA10, even on the official "complete suit" schematics show the vambrace wrist extension armor that Mk IV arms should have. You should be fine using Mk VII arms. There might even be repaired or alternate patterns of Mk IV that lack the wrist armor and skull that make them look like Mk VII arms in the fluff, so I wouldn't worry too much about "MY MARK 4 GUYS HAVE NEW SLEEVES!!!". Frankly, the Mk IV arms kind of suck. They stick out like a sore thumb and don't look good on anything but full suits of Mk IV. I prefer the extra tube detail on Mk V arms and my go-to arm is Mk VII due to laziness and ease of use and access.
