Rasp
I'm allying in some skitarri for my Sisters and I am at a crossroads in regards to what is overall better, an Exorcist or an Onager dunecrawler with a neutron laser. Both have 48" range. D6 str 8 vs str 10 small blast. Both ap1 13/11/10 vs 12/12/11 Both have a 6++ Walker ignores movement penalties for diff ground. But can be locked in combat. Thoughts? Of course, the Exorcist looks better. :) Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321195-music-or-a-donkey/ Share on other sites
Rasp
Oops! Forgot to mention that both are the same cost pretty much 125 for Exorcist, 120 for onager. (Off the top of my head, not looking at books) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321195-music-or-a-donkey/#findComment-4356775 Share on other sites
GreyCrow
How about you look at it differently ;) Pick the model you want, analyze its characteristics deeply, and define its role prior to each battle based on what opposition you face. That's how you enjoy most units, and get better as a strategist ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321195-music-or-a-donkey/#findComment-4356811 Share on other sites
grendal1989
idk. That 1 small blast can pretty easily miss. Although the crawler can actually punch things in CC if needed (and likely more overall survivable in CC). They both are used sort of differently as far as how you would deploy and move them. Exorcist more classy. FWIW I've used the Exorcist to explode a zooming Stormclaw loaded up with blood claws in one particularly good round of shooting. Only one short lived survivor. *Furyou Miko
Exorcist has a much higher kill potential. Anything you want to be shooting a S10 weapon at is going to be in a small enough unit you will never get more than 1 hit with a blast marker. Naminé
I'd actually say the Onager is better in most cases, since it's role is more specialised for tank busting in a way the exo can't. You're always going to hurt a Rhino with this for example. The fact it can fight in melee is another bonus. That said, Exo is faster and has more potential, even if I only ever roll 1's :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321195-music-or-a-donkey/#findComment-4357039 Share on other sites
Goonbandito
The Neutron Laser does have concussive though, which could be super handy if you wanted to charge a monstrous creature or something that turn (since you'll knock it down to Initiative 1). You can also buy Cognis Manipulators for it which gives it S10 in combat (albeit with 1A) and IWND The Exorcist is better at stripping Hull Points though. And if enemy infantry units are spaced properly, it will probably get more hits on a unit too. Rasp
Yes, ultimately I like the exorcist better (why I play sisters) but just wanted to hear my fellow enthusiasts opinion. I think the lack of snap fire (for flyers and if shaken) and the fact that you can only ever score one hit on a vehicle sways the shooting into the exorcists favor. Although, I also only ever roll 1-2 for shots :P Thanks. WarriorFish
Exo also takes up less space on the table, that's another factor for moving about and such. Depends on the rest of your list of course but the Exo has raw hitting power. Do you need that, or the fancy guns of the Omnissiah?
