Got a game next week, first time. 1k points.

Are Quad Rapiers useful in ZM? Can barrage be used to fire anywhere with the reduced scatter? If so... I'm thinking of this list :

-Praetor with various upgrades

-10 tacs with upgrades

-10 tacs with upgrades

-5 Suzerains

-Contemptor Cortus

-2 Quad Rapiers with Shatter Shells

Lol ok, best way to learn is to play I guess...

I've settled on a 1k list:

-Praetor with Master Crafted Power Fist and Iron Halo

-10 Tacticals, Sgt with Artifacer Armour and Power Fist

-10 Tacticals, Sgt with Artifacer Armour and Power Fist

-5 Invectarus Suzerains

-Contemptor Cortus, Kheres Assault Cannon

-2 Quad Launcher Support Batteries, Shatter Shells

I think it's rounded enough with plenty of bodies :-)

Rapiers are cool but remember this is going to be all about short ranged firefights. You dont need long range and as far as im aware when they move they snap fire? Could be wrong. I think thats the downside to taking them.

Honestly you need to give it a go and see what you like.

Speed is gold in ZM as you tend to find your units will only go after a certain target. If you backtrack with a unit they may end up doing nothing.

Terminators and breachers are really good. Nothing wrong with using tacs as bolters are rending but remember they die easier then usual.

Suzerains will be brutal honestly. I would run the hell away from them lol.

Dreads are always a safe bet. Personally I think a kortis kheres is the best option in ZM but that my preference. They should all work well.

Thats all I can think of at the moment. Ill add more if I can think of anything. Sorry bud im at work so dont have much time.

Assuming your doing 30k only have you thought about what you will do if you come up against things like Castellax? Monstrous creatures can be a real pain.

Good luck

Barrage is non functional in ZM you would be using direct LOS fire only with quad guns. From my admittedly limited experience, you are better off taking something else depending on the board you have. Focus on short range firefights and winning those because unless you have some long hallways or good choke points long range weapons don't have the same advantage in ZM as they do on tabletop.

If you want a more detailed discussion feel free to PM me

I can vouch for Terminators in ZM, especially when accompanied by a Primus Medicae. Heavy Flamers are the weapon of choice... actually, just Flamers in general. If you're taking Tacticals, make sure to give them the extra CCW, as they will need it... keep the Bolters, though. The largest squads you'll run into will most likely max at 10, so anything that can handily wipe a unit of 10 Marines or Terminators will be quite effective. Contemptors are vicious in ZM, as well.

If you use the zone mortalis rite of war, breachers are awesome. The better invulnerable coupled with rerolls on saves vs blast can be really handy.

The suzerians are going to do well I imagine thanks to AP2 @ init, good saves and an invulnerable.

Having two tactical squads will be helpful when you roll objective missions.

Contemptors are good, I'd consider taking heavy flamers and fists instead of the kheres though

I still consider myself a non expert at 30k but I have played a ton of ZM, here are my thoughts.

Breachers are an attractive choice with hardened armor and defensive granades, the Invul save makes them a good tarpit for those nasty things you tend to come across in ZM, the option to give them all melta bombs is very nice at keeping dreads away.

Contemptors of any variety are golden, the Cortus has become my go to here as the narrow passageways keep his invul towards the enemy but beware they loose it in CC so make sure you can kill what you charge.

Tactical support squads, these guys can pack Meltas, plasmas or flamers, or if you are like me CHOOM. They can make for a good distraction Carnifex.

Veterans. Been a son of dorn I have made mine into Sniper vets and they hurt whatever they shoot at but when I am not fisting I have a World Eaters vet squad that is tooled up with power weapons, this is about as flexible as a squad gets for us.
