T0MMY Posted April 11, 2016 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Hi gang. So a long time ago (so long that I can no longer find the post) I had a WIP story about my World Eaters. Since then I got distracted by Imperial Guard (I know, what a fool) and moving house and stuff - so I've been away a while. Recently re-found my hobby-love and, with some great WE inspiration from the board, I am having a crack at getting my WE up to scratch. So far I have a few guys who could be Praetorians or Centurions, etc. including a "counts as Khârn" that I built way before the official FW made mine look lame. (I know there's death guard and night lord stuff in there but their stuff is cooler than the WE imo) However, having chatted to the guys in the WE Tactical forum it seems that cc. Veterans may be the way to go. Which I think I like in terms of modelling opportunities as they can take 2 guys with lightning claws (which is cool) and power axes and swords, and I'll probs give the sergeant a power fist... no jumps packs though So I'll mock-up some poses and see what y'all think. What do you guys think about this approach (HH Book 1): Veteran Tactical Squad5 extra marines (10 man squad)Sergeant with powerfist, melta-bolter and artificer armour (+ bp)2 x dual lightning claws (I love how they look)2 x power axes, bolter + bp2 x power swords, bolter + bp3 x chainaxe , bolter + bpVexillaMeltabombs Adds up to 350 points I think. That vet squad is going to be a little expensive, but if you just want a squad that looks awesome, that'll be it. I'd be sure to look into a transport for them, though. I never play anyway lol. So I've been messing about with the veterans and I made this back pack trophy rack to act as a vexilla. Worth noting if you're thinking of getting some that I had to green stuff all the arms on mine to get the bolters to fit between their right hands and shields. Making some more progress on the veterans - pretty much got them all together now. Decided to swap the sergeant's bolter with a plasma pistol just to give him another option in cc if fist will be too slow...http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/yer%20im%20a%20geek/IMAG0262x_zpsuctej4xi.pngI've also dropped a power sword in favour of another chain axe to offset some of the points. I'm not that impressed with the FW mk3 weapons. The swords and axes are really slender - not very space marine looking. The power fists and lightning claws are good though.Just got a delivery of some Anvil chainaxes (and some chain glaives just cos they looked awesome!) T0MMY Posted April 28, 2016 Author Share Posted April 28, 2016 Thanks Prey; the blue is really simple (and therefore repeatable for me!) I white undercoat, then pain macragge blue base coat. Highlight with Calgar blue and then wash the whole lot with Drakenhof Nightshade (my favourite wash). I'm PLANNING a different helmet colour for the vets, both to mark them out from the rank and file and also to make best use of the nightlord terror helms. I think I'll go deep (khorne) red with white skull face plates. Now, as these guys are meant to be heresy era I guess the logical colours for the three helms would be: Raven Guard, Salamander and Iron Hands. These are all fairly gloomy colours though (Salamanders Green is OK, but black and silver hmm...) I suppose I could to Emperors Children, Death Guard, Sons of Horus or even World Eaters... Ideally I'd do an Ultramarine and Imperial Fists for a bit of contrast / pop, but do you think that doesn't fit fluff-wise?? Welcome your thoughts!!! There's 3 helmets up for grabs!
