Kodiak599
So after 2 weeks straight of painting, I have finished my 1700 Grey Knights force. I plan on playing larger games by adding in Assassins, until I get the money and patience to build another one of these strike forces. (Or a thunderhawk). List is 15 Terminators 10 Interceptors (magenetized the backpacks so the can turn into strikes if I need them too) 2 NDK1 Librarian 1 Terminator Brother Captain Took me 2 weeks and about 80 hours of painting (not counting assembling) http://imgur.com/a/MC9kG Any thoughts are appreciated. I know it's not pro quality painting, but I'm proud of it. I will also be the only player at my game store that actually has tournament ready models. Can't figure out how to embed the imgur album to the forums >< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321499-finished-my-nemesis-strike-force-pictures-inside/ Share on other sites
duz_
Look good! Can't tell because of the flash but they look quite bright do they have a wash? Might not hurt to tone it down a little and bring out the recesses you can go back over with a light dry brush for highlights super easy Drill out the gun barrels too wont take long to do and will look really good too Finally another suggestion for the force weapons (Disclaimer trial it on one model first) Maybe try a light dry brush of runefang and then a blue wash over the top to give it that mystical aura Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321499-finished-my-nemesis-strike-force-pictures-inside/#findComment-4366874 Share on other sites
Kodiak599
The lights make them look super bright. Silver likes to reflect alot. I plan on drilling the barrels, just have a game on sunday and don't want to work on anything for now. I will try that option for making the swords kind of glow. It sounds like a neat idea. ChaoticEric
Good job to finish that in two weeks, I'm usually not even though half a model in that time :) I also like what you've done with the bases, I'm guessing it's agrellan earth (or however you spell it) with white in it and a blue undercoat? I'm not a pro-painter either so you'll have to take this with a grain of salt but it I were to recommend any quick wins I'd say to give the gold parts a wash of agrax earthshade to get some more definition and depth in them. You could also wash the recesses and joints of the armour with some nuln oil for the same effect there. breaklance
I like the red and gold for the melee weapons. Stands out. Also great detail on the librarian and his coat. Getting that lining is so hard but yours really stands out. I was planning on going with the "codex compaliant" librarians are blue thing for his robe but after seeing yours in red I'm thinking I might just have him go with a personal choice (deep green perhaps which is my favorite color if only the dark Angels weren't douches in lore lol) I'm no fantastic painter and really only know the difference in what happens between wet brushing and dry brushing but im trying to do an effect with my swords that I'm throwing out here just cause...but I'm going with full chrome swords that have like a thunder cloud running down the middle with white "lightning" like arcs running to a shiny light blue edge. The thought being the swords have like a reservoir in the middle of them to fill up with psyker energy and then channels that leak it out to the edge. I'm stilling working on it to see if I like that effec but it's taking a whole between work and my laughable painting skills lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321499-finished-my-nemesis-strike-force-pictures-inside/#findComment-4367990 Share on other sites

Rurik the blessed
Nice job!... maybe you could add some lights to the red... what i usually do, is to put some Agrax Earthshade shade on the reds, then hight light with the same tone. Kodiak599
Thanks for all the tips and compliments. I'm not a pro painter by any stretch, but it's nice to have some compliments on something I spent so much time on. The librarian and Dread Knights took me the longest of all the models. Each one was in the 5-6 hour range for each model individually. I want to drill the barrels out, I just need to get my butt down the hardware store and get a tiny drill bit for my pin vice :) Still thinking about ideas to work on the swords, but I'll get around to that later. My next project is a stormraven to carry my brother captain around :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321499-finished-my-nemesis-strike-force-pictures-inside/#findComment-4370571 Share on other sites
ChaoticEric
I've got the hand drill from gw and besides being horribly overpriced, what a surprise coming from them, it's quite handy when drilling small holes like barrels. Kodiak599
I have a pin vice I got from hobby lobby. looks exactly the same as GWs, and cost half as much. I used it to drill the magnet holes for the backpacks on my interceptors. They can be swapped to strikes if I ever find a use the them again.
