KGatch113
Just a thought the other day....the chapter symbol on Corvus armor is on the right side, not the left. Should the Raven's head be pointing forward as it is on the left, or should it be pointing backwards, and be the normal RG symbol???? Thanks for any opinions. Ekim_Trub
I would just go with facing backwards, as that is what Forge World have done with their Raven Guard upgrade pack. Emicus
Yet another set of their pads, if placed on the right shoulder, faces forward. In angels of death the free hand rg symbols are on the left shoulderpad, facing forward. Nobody has a clue. So pick your preference :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321527-raven-guard-veteran-symbol-corvus-armor/#findComment-4367748 Share on other sites
dracpanzer
The symbol on either side always has the head turned to the left as you see it. Race Bannon
The symbol faces its right side. Placed on the left shoulder, it will face forward. If FW is the litmus test, then all icons will face to its right side regardless of placement. Yet, in the real world, for the United States military, if the flag is on the right arm, then the stars are on the right side (or the flag is backward on the right arm). So, using the real world American military as the model, then the Raven Guard would face forward (or left) if placed on the right arm. TL;DR - do what you want Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321527-raven-guard-veteran-symbol-corvus-armor/#findComment-4368727 Share on other sites
Shrieker
It usually faces left in frontal depictions - the only exception iirc is the mkVI shoulder pad (that faces right). Dunno why, probably due to mkVI right shoulder pad being supposed to have studs, which leaves the left shoulder for chapter symbol, where it then faces forward? Emicus
https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Raven-Guard-MKVI-Shoulder-Padsfaces right.https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Raven-Guard-MKIV-Shoulder-Padsfaces leftWhether other pads or freehands face left or right doesn't matter. GW in their eternal wisdom has shown us THE WAY, and the way... is whatever you like. :) Everybody wins! Race Bannon
I sit corrected ^_^ I totally agree with Emicus. Having said that, if FW is a litmus test, then the beak will face forward regardless where it is positioned. Gobsmak
According to Codex Space Marines: the 1st Company have white arms with the Chapter symbol in black and inverted to face forwards. However, the Tactical Marine in MkVI armour has it on the left and facing backward. JeffTibbetts
You guys don't suppose the FW Mk. 6 dude is just facing the wrong way because it was sculpted to sit on the left shoulder? I wouldn't read too much into that... Race Bannon
Again, it depends on the source because nothing is truly official. EDIT - I'll have the raven face forward. Shrieker
Setorax's mkVII shoulder pad has the head facing right too, i just noticed Edit: I'm with Tibbs on this, on Setorax (similarly as per mkVI) the left shoulder pad is already assigned, so symbol goes on right arm and having the symbol face left means it faces 'forwards' once assembled. Nusquam
It's one of those things were it an actual fighting force it would likely be always facing forward. Same reasoning why US flags on uniforms always have the stars forward to emulate moving forwards and never back.
