What's the argument about now? I'm confused.

 

There is no order of operations for army list creation (technically anyway...there are the creation and validation steps), but there is one for deployment, which is when the joining of ICs to units occurs.

 

You can't say Pollux is part of a unit at the army list creation phase, so you can apply his rule to a unit during army list creation, but it won't effect any independent characters joining that unit during deployment.

 

So whatever spin you choose to employ, the end result is always the same: Pollux (or any other IC) can't deep strike with his nominated unit.

Unless he Himself has Deepstrike (obviously).

 

If you're running Hammerfall RoW, you can buy IC's and any infantry in your list Teleportation Transponders. So in this scenario, you could save yourself the pittance in points cost of the upgrade.

 

Otherwise, no he cannot deepstrike with them.
