MitchH311
Hey Folks, I have kicked off a dark mechanicum army finally, putting me straight into the deep end for 30k. The thing for me though, is that I love terminators and battle automata fairly evenly. Sooooo, I am trying to think up an all terminator, all the time, allies list to add into my mechanicum for lols and for big games. Scoring would be a big bonus! I have 30 cataphractii to assemble (I have been collecting (hoarding) them for a while), 10 converted indominatus pattern (to use as tartaros) and a few characters. Which legion should I consider? Who has the coolest terminators / overall terminator army? Who has the best special characters and/or traits for terminators? Who has the best terminator special unit? Who can deploy them the best? Trying not to go down a heavy Spartan approach. I kind of like Iron Warrior Siege tyrants, but I'm really really open to suggestions! ROBOcaster
Iron Warriors, then use Golg as your HQ, he makes Terminators Troops even without a ROW. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321649-terminator-allies/#findComment-4370865 Share on other sites
God-Potato of Mankind
Sons of Horus get a few Terminator access options. I think Ultramarines need G-dawg to access Terminator Troops though. Deth Gerd have Terminators in every slot bar Fast Attack - Grave Wardens in HS and Deathshroud for HQ/Elites .. prolly troops in some way I have no idea You could always run a Delegatus with PotL and run generic Legion Terminators with whomever you fancy. Runefyre
Iron Warriors, then use Golg as your HQ, he makes Terminators Troops even without a ROW. Actually, Golg has to be the warlord to make termies troops, which he can't be if he's taken in an allied detachment. RandomMarine
What sort of points are you looking at for your allies Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321649-terminator-allies/#findComment-4371272 Share on other sites
Lord Asvaldir
Just take an allied detachment with a delegatus and the pride of the legion RoW, that will give you access to up to 3 terminators units. Pride doesn't allow you to take allied detachments if pride is your primary detachment, but as far as I know there's nothing wrong with using pride as an allied detachment, could be wrong though. MitchH311
I'm thinking about 1k pts. Looking at the delegatus in battle scribe it seems that the delegatus still needs to be the warlord to use a rite of war? Goonbandito
Yeah, a Delegatus must be the Warlord unless the Legion Primarch is also present. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321649-terminator-allies/#findComment-4371475 Share on other sites
Slips
However, Warlord can only ever be from the Primary Detachment as I've been reminded. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321649-terminator-allies/#findComment-4371483 Share on other sites
MitchH311
Indeed. So at this time it seems impossible to do an all terminator ally detachment :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321649-terminator-allies/#findComment-4371651 Share on other sites
Lord Asvaldir
Well that is unfortunate, I guess you'd just have to settle for a troop tax if you wanted to ally in some terminators. Robzilla
Could you juggle it around and use the marines as primary, and ally in the dark mech? You could squeeze in a few more battle automata by using prévians and cortex controllers? Or use golg, and the new row for adding mechanicum to the army. Was it brethren of iron? Charlo
You can certainly run a Pride of the Legion allied detatchment. Master of the Legion =/= Has to be Warlord. Only the Delegatus does due to his rules. So you can take a Preator or Similar Special Character (without the must be warlord clause, so no Calas Typhon for example) as your allied HQ and then use Pride of the Legion and take Terminators. Want to go Crazy? Of course you do! Consider my chosen legion, the Death Guard. By Using a Preator with Pride you can have: HQ: Preator - Optional Deathshroud bodyguard Elites: Deathshroud or Legion Terminators Troops: 2 squads of either Deathshroud or Legion Terminators Fast Attack: ....ignore this one :P Heavy Support: Grave Warden Terminators. Reyner
You want Terminator allies? Look no further than the mighty IV Legion! A solid Praetor with all the gubbins with PotL, couple of Terminator Squads for Troops and then some Tyrant Siege Terminators in Heavy Support! Ok technically you can do pretty much the same thing with Ultramarines and with a big enough sqaud Fulmentarus Terminators gain the Tank Hunter rule. Other than those two my final choice would be Sons of Horus since Justaerin kick ass now. So Abaddon (hehe terminator armour and his rule about teleporting? Can't remember if he needs to be Warlord for that though) running PotL with a bodyguard of Justaerin and some standard Terminators for troops. All hail tactical dreadnought armour! Charlo
Terminators are always the optimum strategy. It's Tactical Dreadnought armor for a reason comrade!
