Remaining Book III Units and Characters

Hi, all I've recently been thinking about adding some Lernaean Terminators to my AL and it got me thinking there's only a few units left from book III that haven't yet been released by FW. Them being (I think)

-Alpha Legion Lernaean Terminators

-Iron Warriors Iron Havocs

-Iron Warriors Tyrant Siege Terminators

Do you think we'll ever see models for them? I mean I'd like to think so but with the shift moving to prospero at the end of the year I really don't know. The last thing I want to happen is to spend ages converting some only so FW can make fun of my efforts by giving them some snazzy models.

Also there's so many characters that haven't been done yet I doubt we'll ever see them all, I would however like to think we'd see the remaining two primarchs in resin.

Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were.

I'll convert whether there's official models or not, so it doesn't bother me too much.

Even units with official models have to be converted at some level so your army doesn't look cookie cutter (if you're taking them in quantity, which why aren't you! This is a Legion after all tongue.png)

Although I am curious what size CML's FW would use for Fulmentarus or Tyrants.

Primarchs and characters are a different ball park, Alpharius and Dorn have been waiting for WAY too long.

I seem to remember FW mentioning that they wouldn't do every character they wrote rules for, so they could give them up completely to an individuals creative license.

Personally I don't think Iron Havocs really need their own models, as they are so easy to build with the current kits available. At most a Headhunters-style upgrade kit.

I do agree that Alpharius and Dorn deserved models before Russ and Magnus, but it doesn't matter to me so much as it just means my converted Alpharius gets to stick around for longer.

IT's great that russ is coming b/c Space wolves will by my next full army but.....good lord can we please have alpharius.......the whole "they have already released him ;) " is getting old. I am ready to get our primarch....three years later

Well there's still things missing from other books too so don't threat guys it will be released in time

Really? Outside of various special characters I can't remember much missing from the Legions list or the appendices. Solar Auxillia are missing a few things, though, aren't they?

Lets go through the list then :P

So, yeah, make of all this what you will.

I'm saying in general the Thallax Cohort are still waiting on a release and honestly why is it the book 3 legions are always the ones complaining about this? The fact were consistently getting releases should quell the rage inside guys.

And really it's like the old joke with the dark angels it's just getting old and honestly it's starting to sound like the chaos forum on certain subjects

Thallax Cohorts are out and we saw the Ursarax in resin so they are coming sooner rather than later. The only Mechanicum stuff truly missing is Macrocarid Explorator (we've seen the CAD), and Scoria and Arlatax automata, which are the newest additions to the army.

To correct Slips' list, Autilon Skorr and Narik Dreygur have models from book 6.

Anyway, interesting topic, considering I use both kinds of Terminators with my Alphas. The release of the Cataphractii shoulder pads has me currently converting a rewards of treason Tyrant squad using the AL pads and headhunter stormbolters. Not sure where I'll source the missiles yet. If I knew someone who designs in CAD I'd have them make me some that kind of look like those Chinese mortars but with hydra instead of dragon heads.

For Lerneans, I know they will look all scaly and glorious and will probably come with Alpharius, so the wait continues.

Havocs will get at most an upgrade kit with some torsos and heads. You can already throw them together just by making a regular heavy support squad and giving them those targeter heads.

You're right about lernaeans they could easily come with Alpharius, the exact same thing happened with Corax and the raven guard after all.

I didn't intend this thread to particularly whiney saying Legion "X" never gets an love from FW. My concerns were more along the lines of the fact that I full expect book 7 to be huge, three whole army lists and sisters of silence which is going to put a lot of pressure on the design team to get the new special units out fast. So do you think the focus is likely to shift from models that don't already have models and have been that way for a while?

I mean one obvious example of this is that Russ is clearly going to get a model before Dorn or Alpharius.

There's still 'ole Exodus to come too, maybe.

They're special Consuls that I didnt' really consider much like the Warsmith for the Iron Warriors and Iron Father (who actually has a model in TDA) for the Iron Hands since we dont have actual models for:

  • Vigilator
  • 30k Librarian (sure you can use a 40k one but y'know)
  • 30k Chaplain (B@C kinda fixes it but it doesnt feel FW)
  • Siege Breaker
  • Moritat
  • Primus Medicae (Sure, you can use apothecaries but, y'know)
  • Herald (too new)

Those that do are:

  • Delegatus (Atuilon Skorr but still)
  • Praevian (Drygur but still)
  • Master of Signal
  • Legion Champion
  • Forge Lord (Techmarines)

So for Centurion Consuls, its pretty much up in the air.

For what it's worth, Autilon Skorr was destined to happen. There are no less than three concept arts that all carry elements of his final model in the illustrations book that came with the Istvaan collection. The Sons of Horus version for some reason has skaven heads surrounded by ...erm... ==> shaped objects. :D

I hope they release a model for the Flaymaster as I believe FW would be achieve the true horror the fluff portrays that I know I would be unable to, plus it is cool FW does the cool bases for each of the different characters they have released so far

Remember, though, that they had to tone down Curze from his original concept since it was too extreme.

Looking at him now, I REALLY want to see what in the nine hells that Curze looked like...

Sadly though, that has the consequence of us probably never getting Book Levels of Horror and Gore on Night Lords models :(
