Allying Wordbearers and Worldeaters?

OK fella's after much thought and debate i'm ready to jump in on 30k.

Next step is picking your army....and there comes the problem.

I love the world eaters, the models, the fluff and the rules everything appeals to me. I've also never painted a white and or blue army so again another plus!

But..The gal vorbak and the mahra gal dreadnought are probably my most favorite models in the entire 30k range.

Would it be possible to ally a small word bearers army consisting of gal vorbak, mahra gal and maybe some sort of sorcerer (yes deamon summoning) to my world eaters? and what kind of effect would this have on rites of war etc?

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated;)

Yes, you can ally the creepy stuff in! Some Rites of War specify you can't take allies though, so check for that! Apart from that, you can either run it as an ally force, or use Book 6 Shattered Legion Rules.

 

Lore wise, World Eaters and Word Bearers did work together on the Shadow Crusade, rampaging around the Ultramar Sector - it's detailed in Betrayer.

I don't know enough about the World Eaters to comment on them, but I do know something about the XVIIth.

 

Gal Vorbak and daemon summoning can work really well with Word Bearers. But the Mhara Gal doesn't play nicely with any other models that have the Daemon special rule - you either end up killing your own models or severely limiting yourself in deployment and movement. Also, if you're planning on allying in Word Bearers, the Gal Vorbak and the Mhara Gal are both competing for that single elite slot. Finally, the Mhara Gal is really expensive for what it brings to the table outside of Zone Mortalis games. So you need to choose if you want either the Mhara Gal or Gal Vorbak and/or summoning.

 

If you're allying in Word Bearers, rather than taking them as primary, you don't have to worry about the Charismatic Leadership rule which really helps. That means you can take Zardu Layak as your single HQ, and he is without doubt the best summoner available to the Word Bearers.

If you get the legion crusade army list book read it, pretty sure it tells you this about allies?

 

Main legion force = that ROW

 

Allied legion = allied units and that legions legiones rules.

 

So yep you can. Or use book 6 and do shattered legions.

Word Bearers/ World Eaters: Have a very nice combo of WE Crimson Path RoW and deepstriking Gal Vorbaks. T5, 5++, FNP - they're in your enemy's deployment zone, and they are here to stay. Forces you to play very aggressively, but it pays off more often than not. And it's fluffy too!

Well honestly this question is simple enough....

 

If you want to do it just do it ally the hell out of it or shattered legions it, in the end it's your hobby and the only limitation other than building to a RoW or theme is your imagination
