Boarding Parties

Recommended Posts

From all the sources I've read there have been several ways to send a boarding party.

In Pharos the night lords jump from a space station onto an ultramarine ship and then enter using melta charges.

In know no fear the ultra marines do a mass teleport assault.

In the Crimson fist the tried and true head on approach was done, using assault claws, boarding torpedoes and assault Rams to deliver terminators and breachers.

You know, it's purely because of this one In Memoriam update that Hyaenidae had, but now I can only imagine boarding actions utilizing the Shark Assault Boat or similar things like Caestus Assault Rams or Dreadclaws and Kharybdises. Boarding through teleportation seems silly to me, honestly. But that's just my thoughts on the matter.

On topic, I don't think there's much newer information beyond the obvious to be said.

In the HH:3 book, about one of the IF legionaries it is said that his squad was going to use their jump packs to fly to the enemy ship from theirs, which although odd, one cannot deny it to be absurdly badass (kinda like the Space Marine game intro, but IN SPACE!)

Moreover, you could also look for pictures of the Phall board made by FW, maybe you could get some inspiration from there, mostly breachers, tacticals, terminators and dreads, and I recall at least a Caestus and a Kharybdis to be used by the boarding party, although that would not explain how the contemptors reached there (maybe torpedo pods, as Slipstreams said? laugh.png)

I'm currently struggling with writing a boarding action I was going to have the boarding party teleport over including the dreadnought support but I was sort of thinking thunderhawk tearing open q breach in the hull them them dropping out of it might be more dynamic

If you want to breach the hull of the ship I would suggest caestus or kharybdis, not sure if a Thunderhawk could get through. Maybe make it enter the hangars while it cuts in half another thunderkhawk that was taking off?

And Slips, true that, it's just that I don't recall the board having any more vehicles in the board, and definitely only those two could not carry all the marines that are shown. ñAlthough there is still teleportation, and maybe I'm forgetting other pods. Oh well, guess I'll have to take a look at that board again rolleyes.gif

In one of the Soul Drinkers novels the protagonists use their jump pack to make the "return trip", I mean an assault on a space station from a cruiser. Jump into system, deploy the marines, let the inertia carry them onto the station. breach with melta and so on.

Oh I like that idea. Especially the part where one thunderhawk cuts the other one in half XD
